A charming 3-bedroom cottage in the grounds of Castle Ashby, surrounded by Capability Brown Parkland. The cottage has just been redecorated & is perfect very cosy winter getaways or entertaining in the summer with its large garden. Local attractions include: Beautiful Castle Ashby Gardens with its children’s play area; the newly opened Falcon Hotel with the highly rated Eyas Fine Dining restaurant and wellness programme, which includes wild swimming, and Castle Ashby Rural Shopping Yard. The cottage was built in 1911 and has lots of windows making it very light and bright with lovely views of the beautiful garden and its abundance of nature. The garden offers lots of opportunities for outdoor dining and entertaining. Cots, highchairs and a pram can be provided on request. The garden is large and has a six seater table and chairs. We can provide a BBQ (coal) on request. The house is all on one floor for easy access. There are one or two steps up to the entrance doors. There is one large master bedroom with a large chest of drawers and a wooden clothes rail for hanging clothes. This is next door to a bathroom with bath/shower. The living room has seating area, TV and also a dining table with 6 chairs. There are a further two bedrooms with chest of drawers. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine and outside is a clothes line for drying clothes and there is also a rail for drying clothes inside. There are two doors to the property a back door and front door. One of the doors goes straight into a large garden and the other door leads on to a footpath which goes to the village and from the village you can walk to Castle Ashby gardens which is about 15/20 mins. The cottage is situated in Castle Ashby Village and there are two free parking spaces (one in front of the other). The cottage is all on one level but there is a few steps up to the front and back door. I live a 2 minute walk away with husband, 2 children and 2 dogs and am contactable 24/7. Castle Ashby village is a hidden gem in the Northamptonshire countryside. It is a very quaint historical country village that has a lot to offer including the following: Castle Ashby Gardens which is in walking distance. Wander through its gardens, open 365 days of the year, and you are taking a walk through history. The 35 acres of extensive gardens are a combination of several styles including the romantic Italian Gardens, the unique Orangery and impressive Arboretum. The full Castle Ashby experience also involves a menagerie, children’s play area and tea rooms. The Falcon Hotel, a 5-minute walk away, is a Coaching Inn built in 1594 that has been thoughtfully restored and reintroduced into the rural Northamptonshire countryside as a hotel, restaurant and retreat for those in need of rest and renewal. It hosts a top class restaurant headed by acclaimed chef Russell Bateman, a cocktail bar and a wellness programme that includes wild swimming in Castle Ashby lakes, yoga, massage, outdoor fitness, nature walks and more. These can all be booked on the Mind and Body app or go to the Falcon Hotel website for further details on how to book individual classes or swim sessions. Castle Ashby village also has a rural shopping yard which includes an antiques and gift shop, delhi and cafe as well as a renowned clothes shops. St Mary's Magdalene Church at Castle Ashby has services every other Sunday and it dates back to the 14th and 15th century. Other attractions: Olney: a beautiful market town with historic buildings, lots of shops, entertainment, events and a lively local market. In the town is the world renowned Cowper and Newton museum which celebrates the unique literary heritage of two men, and the place where the hymn ‘Amazing Grace’ was written. Earls Barton: is a village and civil parish in Northamptonshire, notable for its Anglo-Saxon church and shoe-making heritage, as well as the Earls Barton museum. Stanwick Lakes is a unique 750 acre countryside attraction and nature reserve located in the heart of Northamptonshire’s Nene Valley. There are extensive and imaginative play areas, open spaces and paths that families, walkers, cyclists (over 7 miles of cycling paths) and nature lovers can explore at leisure. It includes an adventure trial and playground and heritage trail. If you’re interested in Traditional Crafts, and would like to learn some of the skills involved, take a look at the Traditional Crafts Courses they offer once practised in the area, including Blacksmithing, Spoon Carving, Woodcarving and Leather Bag Making. Stanwick Lakes is a fantastic place to visit for anyone keen on bird watching. It is known for its abundance of wildlife, in particular its overwintering birds. Three bird hides and a separate bird feeding station provide the ideal opportunity to watch them undisturbed in their natural setting. Bugtopia: Small interactive zoo featuring over 75 species of invertebrates & reptiles, with a souvenir shop. 78 Derngate: the only house in England designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It is now a multi award-winning visitor attraction offering an unforgettable day out in Northampton. Designed and remodelled by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1916, the house has been meticulously restored and opened to the public. On site: a boutique restaurant, light-filled art galleries, a stylish design shop and elegant spaces that can be hired for meetings, events and functions. Silverstone Circuit is the Home of British Motorsport, based in Northamptonshire, hosting races such as the Formula 1 and MotoGP. The first race was hosted there in 1948. Coton Manor gardens occupy a hillside position extending down from the 17th century manor house constructed of mellow Northamptonshire stone. The 10 acre garden has luxuriant borders that will delight the plant enthusiast while everyone will enjoy the garden’s charm and special atmosphere, with colour and interest throughout the seasons. Beyond the garden is a magical five acre bluebell wood and a wildflower meadow. Pitsford Water: Nestled in rolling rural Northamptonshire, Pitsford Water offers something for everyone. A lovely blend of woodland, meadow and grassland, there are stunning views over the water, making it a great setting for walking, cycling, fishing, sailing, watersports and birdwatching. Beckworth Emporium: Garden centre with a food hall specialising in local produce and a conservatory dining room. Delapré Abbey: explore 900 years of history in the heart of Northampton. Delapré Abbey and its café are open for events, weddings, and great family days out. Canons Ashby: A tranquil Elizabethan house set in beautiful restored 18th-century gardens, home to the Dryden family since the sixteenth century. Trains from London St Pancras go direct to Welingborough train station (15 mins away by taxi) and the train takes 47 mins or Bedford train station (26 mins away by taxi) and the train takes 35 mins. London Euston to Northampton train station (15 mins away by taxi) takes 52 mins. There are bus services from Yardley Hastings (neighbouring village) to and from Northampton and Bedford. There are lots of walks and the Falcon Hotel has 2 walks and a cycle route going from the hotel. The cottage is on a private estate and the grounds beyond the cottage and the cottage garden are private including the cricket pitch and grounds in front of the Castle. We would be so grateful if you could keep to the cottage and its private garden and there is a small path which provides walking access to the village and there are 3 or 4 public walks you can take from there, as well as walking to Castle Ashby gardens which takes 15/20mins. There is a security man and security dog on the estate who lives in the buildings opposite the cottage. The security dog is kept on a lead at all times. I can provide details of a good local baby sitter and I would be more than happy to help with providing local information or anything else you may need. We also live on the estate a few minutes walk away.
