Cozy and inviting space with a queen-size bed in the bedroom and two single beds. Just steps away from the sea, looking out over the charming town of Eyrarbakki and the mountains beyond. Your home away from home, a cozy one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, dining area, and lounge/living room. The bedroom has a queen-size bed and in the living room are two single beds. There is also a sofa in the lounge with a smart TV with access to the web, YouTube videos, and our collection of movies and TV shows. Located just a few minutes away from the TripAdvisor 'Certificate of Excellence'-winning Rauða Húsið restaurant and just next-door to the local shop where you can get all the basic necessities and breakfast supplies. Private apartment that is for guest use only, so guests have access to and use of everything. Shares an entrance with one other apartment, also available for rent. If the weather is nice or you want to get a great view of the sunset, there is a small deck with a bench just behind the building, up on the seawall. It's usually calm there and it's the best spot in town to catch the sunrise or sunset. Feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail any time, with any questions, needs, or special requests. We can provide travel/tour advice, local information, as well as some insight into Icelandic culture and language, if you wish (I'm American and my husband is Icelandic). For the moment, between our little son (born March 10), the restaurant, and the hostel, life is quite hectic, but our guests are a priority and if you need anything or just want to have a chat over coffee, send me a message :) Eyrarbakki is a quiet little town now, but it was once a busy trading port and a critical center of commerce between Iceland and Denmark. Many of the houses are over a hundred years old, and you'll find one of the oldest wooden houses in Iceland in the village (built 1765), which now houses the local folk museum. You can also get the country's best lobster at the local restaurant, the TripAdvisor "Certificate of Excellence"-winning Rauða Húsið, just a 5-minute walk away! Parking on-site, but that's not really an issue in this town. There is local bus service, but it's best to have your own transportation. Located about 1 hour from the airport if you take the coastal road, about 45 minutes from Reykjavik, and about 15 minutes from Selfoss (shopping, bars, movie theater). If you need to do laundry, let us know. For a small fee, we can wash and dry it for you. Be prepared that this is a small town things close early and open late, so make sure you have what you need for the next day's breakfast before it gets late. Samkaup in Selfoss is open until 23:00 and from 7:00 a.m., and there's a bakery in Selfoss, but other than that there isn't much open. If you get stuck, let us know. If you are lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights, the best place to see & photograph them is from the beach at the west end of town (drive past the Rauða Húsið restaurant and down to the end of the paved road, then keep driving on the dirt track until you find the place you want to stop).
