Enchanting Manor House Near Canterbury, 7 bedrooms
Large Country House set in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on Kent Downs, surrounded by orchards, paddocks and parkland. A fantastic base for large families to explore the Garden of England and its picturesque villages, award winning sandy beaches, national trust properties, wildlife parks, and vineyards. 15 minutes to Canterbury and the fashionable shops & restaurants by the sea at Whitstable. Upmarket farm shop, Macknades, at end of road, is a must! Kings Cross 1 hour by train. Set within a 30 acre estate, a short private driveway leads to the main house and its grounds of approximately 4 acres of formal gardens and woodland - for your exclusive use. There's a large garden and sunny terrace (lighting, sound system, dining table) leading from the games room. Children will enjoy exploring the woodland, with swings and trapeze. The property is located on a country road, with pear/ apple/ cherry orchards on all sides. This is the garden of England after all! Kent is well-known for its dining and outdoor activities. A few minutes' drive away you'll find MacKnade - a well-stocked farm shop, complete with butcher, fishmonger, wine shop and both indoor + outdoor cafes. The local town of Faversham (5 minute drive) has all of the major supermarkets, as well as local food + antique markets, alternating on the weekends. For dining close to home, there's the Gunpowder Mill (for inexpensive family type fare), Reeds (upmarket restaurant at the end of the road, in Michelin Guide), a couple of pizzerias down by Faversham Creek, ASK (Italian-themed), Albion (Mexican), the Limes and the Sun (Shepherd Neame) and few fish n chip/ curry houses and Chinese restaurants for eat-in or take-away. Within a 15-20 minute drive, you'll find The Sportsman (Michelin star), the Fordwich Arms (Michelin star), the new Bridge Arms, the Pig and the famous Whitstable Oyster Company. We recommend day trips to Broadstairs, Rye, Margate, Ramsgate, Chartwell, Sissinghurst, Dungeness and the white cliffs of Dover - all around an hour's drive or less - to see more of the beautiful Kent countryside.
