Charming house in centre of Sainte Marie du Mont

A traditional Normandy village house in unspoiled Sainte Marie du Mont, the first village liberated on D Day. The house was once the village jeweller's and clockmaker's shop and home and in his honour we named it "Le Petit Bijou". Now it is tastefully renovated to combine modern comforts with authentic period character. On the doorstep is an artisanal bakery - enjoy fluffy croissants for breakfast, crunchy baguettes for lunch and delicious cakes for afternoon tea. Within the village you can also buy groceries, freshly caught fish, mussels and oysters, traditional butchery (locally-sourced meat, the butcher makes his own excellent hams, sausages and pâtés plus prize-winning tripes à la mode de Caen). Antique shops and two excellent restaurants are also in short walking distance. On Thursdays in the season there is a small market in the church square with fruit and vegetable stall. The newly reopened Bar 6 Juin has a terrace at the back, perfect for a morning coffee or an aperitif. Bedrooms are light and airy with solid wooden floors. The master bedroom has a double bed and en suite shower room. The 2nd bedroom has two single beds (which can be doubled up to make a double bed) and en suite shower room. Each shower room has shower cabin with seat, WC, handbasin, mirror, shaver point and heated towel rail. WIFI broadband with signal throughout the house. The well-equipped kitchen has traditional brick fireplace with cast-iron "insert" wood-burner, dining table for 4, gas cooker, dishwasher etc. The sitting room has sofa and armchairs, TV with all free-to-air British and French channels, writing/laptop desk, USB charger. Downstairs cloakroom/toilet with handbasin. Private laundry with Miele combined washer/dryer machine, iron, ironing board. Electric central heating is in all rooms. The sitting room also has electric flame-effect stove and the kitchen, a cast iron traditional "insert" woodburner. All linens - 100% cotton bedlinen, towels and teatowels - and final cleaning are included.
