Oak View Manor is a stately century-old Cape Dutch heritage home in the shade of a giant oak. The Red Room is the spacious, luxury guest bedroom situated in its main gable. You'll have secure parking, a private entrance, free WiFi, full DSTV, bar fridge, microwave, and kettle. Prearranged breakfast, lunch, or dinner can be enjoyed in the comfort of your room, in the parlour, or under the oak. We're also home to Her Majesteas Salon, a high tea parlour brimming with delicious treats of all sorts. Even with its longstanding reputation as 'the most beautiful house in Heidelberg', Oak View Manor recently benefited from a sensitive makeover and some long-overdue restoration. The main house now boasts a picturesque high tea parlour which is open to the public on most days, a charming old bar and conservatory area, elegant yet comfy lounges, a giant fire pit under the oak, and a sundowner deck overlooking the back courtyard. In this large courtyard at the back of the house, there are also a further three private suites with kitchenettes. We can launder and tumble dry for you on request (at your own risk) for a small additional charge. A hearty or healthy breakfast is available on request with 100% orange juice and freshly ground coffees. You have a private entrance to your room, however, you are invited to join us in the main house tea parlour for something to eat or drink, or to relax in the lounges, or under the oak tree, or to join us for a drink when we are relaxing in the pub. These areas are open to all day visitors from Wednesday through to Friday, every second weekend, and also for special or pre-arranged events and occasions. When it comes to our Airbnb guests, we are flexible in terms of making these spaces available, even outside of our usual hours. Just chat to us. Oak View Manor is also our home, but we are truly happy to finally be in a position where we can share this beautiful place with guests. You are most welcome here, and we are almost always home, so please feel free to ask us anything, or to join us socially. And if it is privacy that you crave, that's also perfect. Remember there are three side by side suites on offer, as well as The Red Room. They can be found under the host's profile. Heidelberg is a charming country town, just 45 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, and 10 minutes from the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve. It has a rich history in terms of the Anglo-Boer War, and the Heidelberg Heritage Museum with its grand sandstone station building and old trains, has a restaurant, craft brewery, and an information centre that offers local tours to other places of interest. Our in-house coffee here at Oak View Manor is freshly ground and pretty-darn good, but the young baristas at the Test Hub, just 2 blocks away, might impress even more. Nature walks, history tours, mountain biking, horse riding, the 5km Discovery Park Run on a scenic local farm every Saturday morning at 8, the flight school... there is plenty to do in and around Heidelberg, and we'll gladly put you in touch with the right people. You will have your own main gate key or remote to enter the property and park your car, and your own house key for access to your room. Our dogs usually sleep in our room on the second floor, and they will let us know when you get home. We are 100% comfortable with this, so please don't feel like you are imposing or disturbing us should you get home late (or early). The only other unusual thing to note is that the water in your on-suite and in ours is pumped with an automated system that uses electricity. Should there be a power failure, please give us a few minutes to switch on the generator BEFORE you flush your loo, take a shower, or let out your bath or basin water. Thank you.
