This is Barbara, one of our 3 'Carry on Camping' Shepherd Huts found in the heart of Leicestershire. Nestled between market towns Melton Mowbray and Oakham, there is plenty to keep you occupied here, with lots of lovely places to eat and drink. The Huts are incredibly cosy with wood-burning stoves, a king-size bed, small kitchenette and plenty of comfy seating. Each is dedicated to Carry-on-Camping stars Sid James, Kenneth Williams and Babs Windsor, with 60s/70s decor in mind! The king-sized beds are made with french linen duvet covers and cotton sheets. The mattresses are memory foam and you should have a brilliant night sleep on them! There are a couple of plug sockets inside should you wish to charge/use your devices, a wood-burning stove to keep you snug at night, and plenty of space to sit and relax. Inside the 'kitchenette' there is a sink with cold tap, basic cooking and eating utilities (frying pan, saucepans, tableware etc), a single gas hob and a cool box - please keep helping yourself to ice blocks from the communal area's freezer. Outside on the decking there is more seating, a fire-pit and picnic table. You're more than welcome to borrow the BBQ if you fancy. Wood is available from us when you get here, or you can buy it locally, or bring your own. There are no showers or toilets in the Shepherd Huts themselves, but there is a covered and heated shower block only a few yards away, where you'll find two cubicles. Each contains a flushing toilet, a wash basin and a shower. There is an outdoor hot tub available to all our guests (we ask that you take a shower before entering the tub to keep the water as clean and fresh as possible). If more than one Hut is occupied, please book your time slot on the blackboard. We have two other Shepherd Huts available to book on Airbnb, should you wish to come as a group. You'll find us at the main farm house if you need ANYTHING. Our road is pretty special. On it you'll find: Eye Kettleby Lakes (15 minute walk) which has fishing and a great bar and daytime restaurant; March House Farm (20 minute walk) with a cafe, butchery and farm shop; and the Milk Shed (30 minute walk) where you can buy a glass milk bottle and fill it as many times as you need with milk pretty much straight from the cow. Our local pub is the Royal Oak in Great Dalby (30 min walk/3 min drive). It's a lovely pub that serves fantastic food everyday except Monday. Public transport is seriously lacking in the area. We recommend arriving by car, but if travelling by train the nearest station is Melton Mowbray (4 miles). Another option is Grantham Station, which is further away (19 miles), but accommodates many more routes. You can get a train from London Kings Cross to Grantham pretty easily and some only take an hour.
