Beccles is a small but thriving market town situated on the Norfolk Broads and within easy reach of Suffolk's beautiful coastline. There are many independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants waiting to welcome you. A short ride by car or bus could take you to the picturesque villages of Southwold or Walberswick. Here, you may decide to spend your time crabbing and picnicking or relaxing on the pier while you enjoy watching the world go by! The area boasts many outstanding nature reserves such as the newly expanded Carlton Marshes and RSPB Minsmere which are open all year round. Walkers will be spoilt for choice whether rambling through the heather covered heaths and forests of Dunwich or following the meandering River Waveney there is something to suit everyone! The historic city of Norwich with its castle, cathedral, and many quaint and interesting streets is only 18 miles away. For family days out you could try Africa Alive, Pleasurewood Hills, a day trip on the broads (or even hire a paddleboard or kayak!) or a visit to Beccles Lido to name just a few. Whether you want a quiet, relaxing stay, a visit to a vibrant historic city or a day out with the family there is something to suit everyone. Beccles train station is just a 5 minute walk away- trains link to Lowestoft in the east and Ipswich to the south; from here you can connect to London. A regular bus service to Norwich and other surrounding areas is a short walk away. There are many wonderful walks and cycle routes on your doorstep.
