Casa Ceru has been lovingly restored (by it's current owners) to it's gentrified roots (using antique materials, hand-made cotto floors and beamed ceilings) whilst offering the utmost tranquility for those seeking total relaxation in one of two terraces overwhelmed by the surrounding trees and flowers and spectacular view. The interior of Casa Ceru has been spectacularly refurbished with a mix of eclectic taste, fine antiques, local arts and crafts and a dash of modernity. The overall design combines Old World Tuscany with modern luxuries and sublime comfort, leaving one to experience a special holiday in Tuscany. Some Highlights: - House is located on a marked mountain hiking path - Location--close to Lucca, beaches and important historical cities - Sleeps 4 very comfortably - Two terraces - Private garden - All modern fixtures and facilities - High quality linens and towels - High quality mattresses - Free WiFi - Free Satellite TV - Friendly village - High quality interior furniture and fittings The house sits perched on the side of a mountain with the most breathtaking views surrounded by dense forests. We are a three minute walk to the Village Bar, where again the views are breathtaking. Adjacent to the bar is an Alimentari (a small grocers shop) should you need a loaf of bread or milk in a pinch. We are a short drive ( 4/5 km) to some fabulous restaurants, some notably part of the Slow Food Movement. Hiking and country walking routes begin just outside our door. During the autumn harvest, there are plenty of towns that offer food festivals promoting local produce including cheeses, meats (wild boar) and wines. The Garfagnana produces spelt, chestnut and the woods behind Cardoso has some of the best mushroom picking in the region. There are scores of beaches to visit along the Versilian coast (the Riviera) where you pay daily for a chair and umbrella. Should you venture out to Forte dei Marmi --try a Wednesday, the market day. The seafood meals are fresh and delicious. Should you wish to stay within the environs of Lucca, there are villas, gardens, the Puccini Festival, held every July/August as well as Casa di Puccini and let's not forget antiquing. Lucca is well known for their antique shops and quality of goods. Lucca holds an antique fair every third weekend of the month. The walls around the old town remained intact and remain a pedestrian promenade which give way to a nightly 'passeggiata.'
