Satzvey Castle - Room 1
This is the former boudoir of Countess Mechthildis Wolff Metternich, greatgrandmother of the current owner of the castle, Franz Josef Count Beissel von Gymnich. 2 windows offer a beautiful view of the moat and park. No TV, bathroom across the hall. As all other rooms, this former boudoir is furnished with valuable antiques and old paintings. Hidden behind its own doorway is the room's individual sink. The thick outer walls are over 600 years old and survived medieval feuds, a three year siege in the 16th century by the Duke of Jülich, various battles during the Thirty Years' War and sniper- and mortar-fire during the last World War. Mechthildis Ottolina Johanna Huberta Maria Countess Wolff Metternich zur Gracht and great-grandmother of the current owner, Franz Josef Count Beissel von Gymnich, loved this room with its spectacular view into the park and across the moat and used it as her private boudoir. The ample castle grounds have various restaurants as well as the castle "Brasserie", which serves a typical German breakfast (not included).
