Traditional House in Agios Lavrentios, Pelion
Restored traditional villa with beautiful private outdoor space in Pelion Agios Lavrentis village, only 20 meters distance of the main square. The villa is a fine example of eighteenth century Pelion architecture, with natural basic buildings materials the stone and the wood. Housing is developed on three different levels, with a wooden interior staircase. Including three bedrooms, living room with fireplace, kitchen, dining room and bathroom. Ideal choice for group of six people or families. The visitor has access to all areas of the residence as well to the outdoor yard of the residence. The village of Agios Lavrentios is built on the west side of Mount Pelion at an altitude of 600 meters and overlooks the Pagasitic Gulf. It is 22 km from the city of Volos, the capital of region Magnesia, 351 km from Athens and 231 km from Thessaloniki. Agios Lavrentios is a "monastery" village since it was founded with the creation of the homonymous monastery in the 13th century. The monastery of Ag. Lavrentios exists until today and is one of the most important Byzantine monuments in the region worth visiting. Built amphitheatrically, it is one of the best preserved traditional villages of Pelion with unique samples of the 17th, 18th and 19th century Pelion mansions and a dense network of old cobbled streets. The core of the village is the central square with the large platanus tree where the village cafes and a small market store are gathered. There is also the metropolis of the village, the church of Ag. Dimitriou, dating back to 1730. From the square radiate cobbled paths leading to the various neighborhoods of the village and at Xatzini Square, a naturally shaped square on the outskirts of the village with a unique view to the west side of Pelion and the Pagasitic Gulf. The village is verdant, surrounded by beech and chestnut forests with many springs and a pleasant climate, with a special beauty at any time of the year. Mild autumn and winter with frequent snowfall, sweet spring with intense vegetation and cool summer. Thus the visitor has the possibility for various activities depending on the season. Tour of the village with horses for young and older, winter sports as well as the village is a few kilometers from the Pelion ski center, well-preserved paths marked for the hikers who connect Agios Lavrentis with the neighboring villages Drakeia, Agios Vlassis and Agios Georgios , visits to the beautiful beaches of Pagasitikos. For the last 11 years, the village has become internationally known as the Music Village, with the summer meeting of international musicians and artists, the organization of artistic events and educational music workshops. A special period when Agios Lavrentis is transformed into a center of artists' expression from all over the world, busts with liveliness and music. The access to the village cοuld be done either by car or by local bus from Volos city (for detailed schedule please visit KTEL Volou website). In the beginning of the village there is a parking area. There, the visitors should park their vehicles as in the interior of the village there are only stone paths and the entrance of vehicles is forbidden. The villa is a 8-10 minutes walk from the parking area.
