With love and respect to the nature and the character of our island we made our rooms, "Zacharoula" or "Sugary rooms". Magganitis our village is an amazing place with breathtaking and safe beaches and nature. Every summer, from May until September, more than 100 traditional "fiestas" take place at Ikaria. Fiestas take place at openair places. Dancing folk dances, eating traditional food and drinking local wine, promise a great experience. Ikaria is named for Icarus, son of Daedalus, the legendary architect of King Minos’ Cretan labyrinth. When the two tried to escape from Minos’ prison on wings of wax, Icarus ignored his father’s warning, flew too close to the sun and crashed into the sea, creating Ikaria – a rocky reminder of the dangers of overweening ambition. Greek myth also honours Ikaria as the birthplace of Dionysos, god of wine and joy. Magganitis our village is also an amazing place with breathtaking beaches and nature. The thousands Menhirs of the area at this full green landscape with olive trees, figs, pinetrees and holm oaks, give the village its unique character. Coming from Evdilos port towards Magganitis, a tunel leads you to our village and by the time visitors see it realise it worthed to visit. Natural springs, trecking and walking paths, flowers , forests and wonderful beaches were used at the canvas of Magganitis. The crystal clear blue and green water of the beaches attract you and literally makes you forget about everything.The beaches of Magganitis,are among the safest and calmest of the island. With our Ikarian spirit can help you to explore most of the beauties of the island and be sure will do our best on it. You can depart early in the morning and return back at the afternoon. Our rooms, now, are five, individual rooms, totally harmonic at our village's spirit. Sunny and airy, with view to the sea, the mountain and the village, will make you feel like local. The studio has a double bed and closets. There is also frigde and aircondition. A very beautiful balcony where you have view towards the sea and the mountain. It has also big fully equiped kitchen. Our rooms are fully equipped with bed-linen and towels. Relaxing at the balcony or the yard you can enjoy your coffee or wine with view towards the sea,the mountain or the village. From our rooms, walking at a very beautiful path, beach of Magganitis is just 15 minutes. At our village you can find whatever you may want. Cafes and small traditional restaurants serve "mezes" and local food. Besides, Ikarian kitchen is well known international for the longevity that "offers" to the people of Ikaria. So feel free to enjoy local food and wine, fresh and delicious at the elegant places of the vilage. There is also mini market for your needs. Night time you can enjoy your drinks at the bar of the village just by the sea or at the traditional cafes. From the port or the airport there are taxis that can drive you to Magganitis. Also there are many car rentals where you can rent a car or a scooter to our place. Due to the change of the host we lost all of our reviews! All of them were more than positive, so now we attach them below and of course you can experience our hospitality and quality by your selves! Jan Ιούνιος 2018 I enjoyed my stay so much. In the fridge was a fruit basket. There were herbs in the kitchen, collected on the island by her husband. I felt very welcome by these truely hearty people! Το προφίλ του/της Maya Maya Σεπτέμβριος 2016 Stella and her daughter were very friendly and communicative. The breakfast was nice. I also liked her cats! Το προφίλ του/της Kara Kara Αύγουστος 2016 Stella and family were lovely. They drove us to the beach and port to pick up our car, brought us cake on 2 occasions, and were very happy people! The breakfast was amazing - everyone should try it. We had the omelette and yoghurt with fruit + ikarian honey, the honey was unreal. So yummy. The kitchen was stocked with a bottle of olive oil, coffee, salt, and a quarter of watermelon was provided to us upon arrival. They also gave us a bar of soap which smelt great. The only down side was that the wifi was terrible and didn't work smoothly during our stay. Over the 5 days we were there our room wasn't cleaned once nor were the bins emptied. But overall our stay was unforgettable and Magganitis is truly beautiful. Not to mention the view from outside of our room. Stella nous a accueillies avec chaleur (gâteau, fruits frais). Le studio est petit mais agréable, avec tout pour cuisiner. Nous avons été ravis de ce séjour! When we got to Magganitis late-ish that evening, she and her family welcomed us warmly, and led us to the lovely studio where a freshly-baked home-made cake and watermelon were awaiting us. The studio was bright, with a fully equipped kitchen (which we solely used for making breakfast in the morning, the village tavernas more than fulfilled the rest of our needs!), with a small cosy bathroom. The place was immaculate, the bed really comfortable with freshly-ironed sheets, towels and a traditional olive oil soap (which did wonder to our sun-kissed skin). During our 6-day stay, Stella proved the best host, offering us fresh figs (she led me to the fig tree in her orchard and was told we could help ourselves) and always made herself available for info/advice, tips . One night, coming back late after a rich meal in the excellent tavernas in Magganitis, she asked us to join her family and other hosts and fed us a second meal with delicious local wine, and a great banter! On our last day, she was kind enough to drive us at the crack of dawn to the little port and spared us having to drag our heavy luggage down the steep village path! The village of Magganitis is the most authentic we have seen on the island with a great atmosphere, traditional tavernas and local life, and a fabulous taverna overlooking the small harbour. There is a lovely beach nearby where locals go and the mind-blowing Seychelles beach reachable by boat (or on foot but get ready for a bit of a tough ride down the mountain path!!) All in all our time at Magganitis was magical, enchanting and full memories we will cherish for years to come. Would LOVE to go back anytime soon. Το προφίλ του/της Haroon Haroon Αύγουστος 2015 Drive to Magganitis was remarkably beautiful. As we arrived Stella had a freshly baked cake, still warm, waiting for us. The rooms were nice and clean. Stella, Setefano, Helen and Lefartes made us feel at home. Everyday breakfast experience was tremendous with Stella making excellent eggs and coffee while stefano picked fresh figs and olives for us. Seychelles beach nearby was unique and tiny port beautiful. We couldn't have made a better choice. Will do it again in a heartbeat. The rooms were beautiful, clean, quiet with a view of the sea in the picturesquw village of Magganitis. Miss Stella was very welcoming, she had baked cakes for us when we arrived and even provided fresh fruit like watermelon and figs for us each morning. She gave us tips and advice on where to go and we were lucky enough to go to one of the village festivals right next to us. One of the best beaches of the island, called Seycelles, is a stone's throw away from the rooms, just a 10 min boat ride away! I would definitely recommend staying there and I'm sure me and my friends will be back soon! Я искренне благодарен хозяйке за все, что удалось посмотреть. Удалось наблюдать жизнь жителей деревни острова Икарий - это самое главное. В программу пребывания входило ежедневное купание в море. Особенно впечатлил пляж "Сейшелы", который расположен не очень далеко. Несмотря на то, что к пляжу ведет только скалистая тропа, море и воздух этого места - уникальны.
