Stay in a room in a characterful house right in the centre of Reine, Norway's most beautiful town, on the Lofoten island of Moskenes. All prices are including bedding, towels, tea, coffee, WiFi and end-cleaning. Please be advised that breakfast is not included in the price. Arts and culture, great views, restaurants and dining and family-friendly activities are all very close by! You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the high ceilings, the views, the location, and the people. Cosy rooms, with the sea, shops, bus stop and restaurant in the immediate vicinity: Guesthouse "det gamle Hotellet" (the Old Hotel) wishes you a warm welcome all year round. The rooms are located on the first floor with gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains, the Reinefjord and the marina. The Lofoten Islands are famous for their history of cod-fishing and -drying. You will see the drying-racks and, if you visit between March and June the fish hanging on them, everywhere. The guesthouse was built a little over a hundred years ago as the hotel for the village of Reine and was in use until the '70s as the main hotel. In the 1990's it got 'converted' into a home, but still has many bedrooms which I now rent out for guests. It is situated right in the centre of the village with easy access to restaurants, café, busstop and gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains and the sea. In the guest-area you will find tea, coffee, cookies, books and games. The are two, newly constructed bathrooms, one of which will be your private one. Unfortunately, no kitchen facilities available, but you can always borrow some plates and cutlery and a space in the refrigerator. Since this guesthouse is my home too, I will be around to welcome you and answer your questions. The mountains seem to rise out of the sea here in Reine. Interspersed with sea all around, it creates a magical surrounding in any season. The winters are surprisingly mild since the Gulfstream runs along here: -5C to +5C with snow from December until May. Since Reine is located above the arctic-circle, the sun does not rise above the horizon from the beginning of December until the beginning of January. This means that in the summer (read: end of May until middle of July) the sun does not set: midnight sun! The northern lights, aurora borealis, are visible here from September until April. There are a number of outdoor-companies right outside the door: diving/snorkeling, sea-rafting, kayaking, bicycle-rental and mountain hiking. I can help you to get in touch with these companies or organise your activity for you. The main bus stop with connection both to the south and the north of the islands, is situated right across the road, as well as an ATM and a small shop/petrolstation. The ferry from Bodø arrives in Moskenes, 5km from Reine. The nearest airport is in Leknes, 1h drive away. Free parking. Car-rental. All prices are including bedding, towels, tea, coffee, WiFi and end-cleaning. Breakfast is provided on request and not included in the room-price.
