Guests can either bring their own horse or can book riding on Hurstwood Farm horses. Hurstwood Farm is situated in the East Sussex countryside at High Hurstwood, between Crowborough and Uckfield. The countryside around the estate is beautiful for walking and cycling. The local area offers a wide variety of activities for those without an Equestrian interest. Walking/Cycling Ashdown Forest is within easy reach of the cottages. With its famous connections to the heartwarming Winnie the Pooh stories by A.A Milne, why not follow the trail and play pooh-sticks on the actual "Pooh Bridge" described in the books?! The Vanguard Way passes the entrance to the farm and offers a 66 mile route from Newhaven through to Croydon for walkers. Hurstwood Farm is situated roughly halfway along the route. If you come to stay at Hurstwood make sure you bring a copy of the Ordnance Survey Explorer Map No. 135 which contains excellent detail of all the footpaths in the area. The picturesque County town of Lewes is within half an hour's drive; the same is of the historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, both offer numerous restaurants, high class shops and tourist attractions. Our nearest City is Brighton - and we think Brighton is very special with it's unique mix of history and modern culture. Enjoy a walk down the cobbled lanes, with an amazing selection of shops that you won't find any where else. If you are looking for a special outfit or piece of jewelry this is the place to go. The official Brighton Tourism site will show up to date information on events, clubs, theatres and restaurants, the beach, the Marina.
