Calabash is set within the beautiful 80 acre Balenbouche Plantation Guesthouse & Heritage site with two adjoining beaches. The 420 sq ft cottage offers a comfortable deck and wifi, as well as a kitchenette. We offer meal and grocery delivery, a supermarket, the village of Laborie and restaurants are a 10 min drive away. The pitons, volcano, diving, hiking, waterfalls and botanical gardens are a 20-30 min drive. Our other listings include Banyan, Almond, Frangipani and Waterlily Cottage! The cozy Calabash Cottage offers one bedroom with a queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom. The large covered wooden deck with garden view has a kitchenette, sofa and dining area. An extra bed or cot can be placed in the room for a child. Each of our five unique cottages are built in an open, tropical style to take advantage of the natural breeze. The cottage is located close to the main Plantation House and is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. The 80 acre historic property offers a 180 year old Plantation House Restaurant, beautiful gardens and trails, and an 18th century sugar mill. Two small beaches and a local restaurant are within walking distance. Our German-American-St Lucian family has lived and worked at Balenbouche for over 30 years and looks forward to having you stay with us and helping you get to know our beautiful island! Daily breakfast at the Plantation House is available for US$ 12, dinner is offered 3-4 times a week (US$ 25). A local restaurant is within walking distance. The Calabash Cottage is part of the Balenbouche Plantation Guesthouse & Heritage site, located in a rural and residential neighborhood, but a restaurant and small convenience store are a 5 minute walk away. The town and supermarket is a 15 minute drive away. Balenbouche is a great starting point to explore the island. Many local attractions, including the famous St Lucia pitons, volcano, waterfalls, snorkeling, hiking and restaurants are just within a 15 - 30 minute drive. The nearby village of Laborie offers a beautiful calm bay for swimming and several small local places to eat. We do recommend that you rent a car for at least part of your stay, but there is also a public bus just a short walk away. Our buildings do not have air conditioning or screens, they are built in a tropical, traditional and eco-friendly style. Balenbouche Estate is most suitable for nature lovers and travelers wishing to experience authentic island life.
