Charming 18th century stone thatched cottage, full of character and sympathetically furnished with two very comfortable bedrooms and large private walled garden. Just a few minutes walk from the centre of Tisbury village with a direct train to London and parking opposite. The local surroundings are stunning offering super walking routes, a wide range of food and drink possibilities, a heated swimming pool, gym and library, and many sites of interest for a super week away in the countryside. THE COTTAGE is full of charm and character with sitting room with open log fire next to the lovely and well-equipped kitchen with new induction hob, double oven, toaster, microwave, fridge/freezer and with an elm dining table and chairs. Good WiFi connection, no TV (unless you really, really want one) and no dishwasher. There are two spacious and comfortable bedrooms upstairs. The main bedroom has a double bed, and the second bedroom has a single bed. Both have good linen. Plus, there is a newly upholstered sofa in the lounge which is very comfortable for a snooze. The small bathroom has a bath and good shower. A log store leads on to the secluded patio and private walled garden up some steps. Perfect for morning coffee and the papers, or an afternoon nap on the large lawn! Parking is available nearby but parking (or walking up) is not permitted to the right of the cottage. Charming garden cottage - beautiful surroundings with rivers, lakes, woods, paths and fields - unspoiled village with full range of village shops including butcher, fishmonger, deli, newsagents etc. - great for local sightseeing, walking, bike rides and more THE VILLAGE has a traditional butchers also selling fresh veg, a fresh fishmongers, two delicatessens, a supermarket, a bottle shop, post office, newsagents, hairdressers, flower shop, coffee shop and two take-aways among other local arts and crafts shops. Messums Art Gallery and coffee shop is in the historic tythe barn at Place Farm just down the lane which is open and hosts different arts exhibitions. NEARBY are Old Wardour Castle (2 miles), Stonehenge (14 miles), Semley for antiques (7 miles); Shaftesbury (9 miles) and the Chalk Valley History Festival (June 2017). The walking routes are stunning will take you to Fonthill Lake; Chicksgrove; Wardour and beyond - all with nicely located pubs for refreshment if required. BY TRAIN Tisbury is on the main train line from London Waterloo to Exeter St Davids. Tisbury is the first stop after Salisbury where the train divides - make sure you sit in the front 3 carriages and listen for announcements of any changes. The cottage is a 15 min walk from the station, straight up the high street and turn right at the top. BY CAR Tisbury lies between Salisbury and Shaftesbury, south of the A303 and north of the A30. Parking is available on any public road (not to the right of the cottage please) HIRE A CAR from the Tisbury Electric Car Club at very reasonable rates for days out and about. Lovely walks in the surrounding countryside and to various pubs including: The Boot (Tisbury); the Beckford Arms (between Tisbury and Hindon); the Compasses (Chicksgrove) and beyond to the Donheads, the Chalk Valley or Semley.
