Private parking for 2 cars in pub car park. No smoking.. Keyhold Cottage was probably built in the 18th or early 19th century. Its name may well derive from the possibility that it was the location of the person who was responsible to hold all of the keys to the buildings on Chedworth manor estate. There is a cottage nearby named Kayholt Cottage and it is possible that Keyhold might be a derivation of Kay Holt, if this person had lived there at some time. This semi-detached cottage is located on a street which is reputed to have been named in honour of the visit to Chedworth by Queen Anne, the wife of Henry VII at the end of the 15th century. It is said that Henry VII gave money for the restoration of the church windows. The pub opposite is dated from 1610. This period holiday cottage offers an idyllic setting in Chedworth which is set in a conservation area. It is 8 miles from Cirencester and 10 miles from Cheltenham. Chedworth is an ideal location from which to explore the beauty of the Cotswolds. Roman activity can be seen at the Chedworth Roman Villa, a 40-minute walk. The Chedworth Nature Reserve and the Corinium Museum in Cirencester are also well worth a visit. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
