To top off their natural beauty, there is their important history and the easy and quick access from Athens. In other words, they make an ideal all seasons destination that will remain in your memory forever. NAFPAKTOS Built between Antirrio and the river Mornos, Nafpaktos is the most beautiful town of the district of Aitoloakarnania. The idyllic beaches face the Corinthian gulf; the majestic mountain embraces the town of Nafpaktia; the rich history is reflected upon two monuments, the Venetian castle and the Venetian port. The first things that strike visitors in Nafpaktos are its comfortable plane-shaded roads, its traditional buildings, and its people of all ages enjoying the sun in open air restaurants and cafés, often by the sea. Start strolling around the cobbled streets with the naval houses and the well-preserved mansions. Bougainvilleas climb on the stone walls and flowers fill the neighbourhoods with welcoming colours and aromas. All the streets lead to the port, the smallest and, maybe, most beautiful in the Mediterranean Sea! At the eastern tower there is the old lighthouse and the Fethiye Tzami (mosque) of 1499. The built-in marble plaque reminds us of the famous sea battle of 1571. At the western part and next to the cannons targeting the sea, there are the statues of the legendary captain Giorgos Anemogiannis and of the famous Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes. The delicious teasers on the pedestrian walkway of Stenopazaro, right at the place where the old market and the small tavernas used to be, provide the perfect excuse for a long or brief stop. Strong again and no more hungry, you can climb up the castle, one of the best preserved castles in five landings, whose story dates back in the Ancient times. The Venetians used to call its top “the triple tiara of Lepanto”. Stand there to marvel at the imposing view of the town and the port, dominated by the cable Rio-Antirrio bridge on the horizon. Your attention will also be drawn by the chapel of Profitis Elias (11th century) the tower clock, as well as the remnants of the ottoman bath. **NATURAL BEAUTY TO DISCOVER**: The Mesolonghi Lagoons, together with the numerous lakes and rivers of the area compose the largest complex of wetlands around the Mediterranean. The largest part of the area is a National Park, included in the European Network Natura 2000 and protected by RAMSAR Convention, which confirms their value as rare natural habitats. **FOR THE CLIMBERS**: Only 14 km away, VARASOVA, is a solid limestone massif rising to 917m and one of the most popular and historic climbing venues in the country, especially when it comes to multi-pitch routes. The three peaks of Varasova rise to nearly identical elevation. The rock is very solid, relatively sharp, mostly gray or yellow limestone of outstanding quality. It is generously featured and teeming with variety: compact walls, steep slabs, corners and vertical cracks, jugs, flakes, chickenheads, incut edges, and a surplus of hidden holds and footholds which make for sublime climbing over a remarkably blue sea. The approximately 200 routes of Varasova include single- and multi-pitch sport routes. There are also several mixed-character ‘adventure’ routes with as many as 18 pitches and, although these usually have a few bolts per pitch (mainly on solid sections of rock) plus fixed belay anchors, they will also require placement of nuts or other trad gear (usually in cracks). You can reach Greek Boho Villa by car or bus. The access from Athens is fast and easy via the Ionian Highway. Distance from Athens: 210 km (2 hrs) Tolls cost: 25,30€ The area and the house are unique ;) You will find Varassova Climbing Cliff and the Lagoons of Mesologgi just a few km away.
