Daisy cottage, 14 Newgate Barnard Castle is an ancient one bedroom Grade 2 listed character cottage with cosy wood burning stove. It was recently restored & retains original features with oak beamed ceilings, stone floors & antique furniture throughout. The kitchen leads to a walled garden to the rear with an enclosed car parking space behind large gates. Bedding, towels, firewood tea, broadband, coffee etc & complimentary bottle of Prosecco or red wine are included. min stay: 4 Nights Step back in time when you stay in our beautiful cosy cottage. It was recently sympathetically restored but still retains all of it's original features with oak beamed ceilings, window shutters, stone floors & walls and antique furniture throughout. The lounge is spacious with a large stone fireplace & has a wood burning stove. The cottage has superfast broadband and smart TV. The kitchen has fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave etc and opens into the cottage garden with seating, small lawn, flower borders & car parking space. The en-suite bedroom is furnished with period pieces including a double & a single bed, wardrobe & drawers, original sash window with wooden shutters. The cottage is situated just off the High Street. It is within 2 minutes walk of several restaurants, pubs, antique shops etc. Bowes museum & the castle are within a 5 minute walk as are some lovely country riverside walks Guests will have access to the whole house & garden Me or my father, Kevin will show you around & hand over the keys on arrival. We are flexible on the time to vacate when leaving & time this around whether there are arrivals on your departure date. We do have a key safe if you would prefer to let yourself in, or you are arriving late at night. The cottage is situated just off the High Street & is just along the road from the renowned Bowes Museum. It is only a 5-minute walk to the castle or river & into the countryside, this makes it ideal for keen walkers as there are a good many beautiful walks on the doorstep. Of particular note is the Teesdale Way which follows the Tees on well signposted paths. There are a good many pubs, cafes & restaurants all within a 2-minute walk. The town also has 7 antique shops so plenty to do if the weather forces you indoors. Barnard Castle is an ideal location to visit the fantastic Kynren show in Bishop Auckland (15 miles away), Raby Castle or Eggleston Abbey for those history fans or the natural beauty of High Force waterfall. I leave firewood for the 1st night or two. The cottage has oil filled radiators but If you plan to use the stove each night, it is worth guests bringing additional logs.
