The Hut - En-suite shepherds hut with lovely views

In an idyllic valley in the North York Moors National Park, our hand built shepherds hut at Gumboots & Wellingtons is stylish & comfortable, with log burning stove for cosy evenings. The Hut is fully equipped with en-suite shower room, gas central heating & compact kitchen. Your stay will be truly magical, surrounded by nature. Relax & recharge in the garden, explore miles of walking trails & cycle paths in Dalby Forest, venture to York, to the coast, or to Malton, ‘food capital of Yorkshire’. The Hut at Gumboots & Wellingtons is in a unique setting, with lovely farmland views across the valley. The Hut itself is a real gem, well proportioned and surprisingly spacious. Accessed via steps, The Hut is open plan with a full sized double bed, kitchen, dining table and wood burning stove all in one space. The shower room is accessed via a door next to the kitchen. There are lots of well thought out details which make it extra special. Books, board games, playing cards and a set of binoculars are provided to help you enjoy your visit, everything you will need to make your stay a real treat. Outside there is a fire pit / barbecue which you are welcome to use (extra wood can be purchased from your hosts). Being close to Dalby Forest which is known for dark skies, star gazing is spectacular here. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden. There is a fire pit / barbecue in the garden which you are welcome to use. Wood for this can be purchased from your hosts. We will be on site most of the time, so will be available to answer any questions, suggest places to visit and generally help you enjoy your stay. Prior to your stay, we are happy to answer any questions via Airbnb message. Please note, mobile phone reception can be limited here, depending on your network provider. Gumboots & Wellingtons is set in a beautiful, untouched valley in the North York Moors National Park. Right on the edge of Dalby Forest, surrounded by nature. If you want to find adventure nearby, there are plenty of options. Dalby Forest GoApe, hire bikes and follow some of the cycle trails, venture to one of the many beautiful coastal villages, take a whale watching boat trip, visit Castle Howard or Malton 'food capital of Yorkshire'. Learn a new skill and book a Lino printing workshop, wellbeing experience or twilight walk. Let us know what kind of thing you would like to do & we will happily make suggestions. If you wish to relax, you can leave the car behind and explore the area by foot or bike. The nearest village, Thornton Le Dale, is just a 20 minute stroll along a country lane or down a little path which follows the beck (Yorkshire term for ‘stream’). The village has pubs, relaxed dining tapas/pizza places, a wonderful small restaurant, a post office, ice cream parlour and shops. From there you can catch the bus to local market towns, or head to Goathland or Whitby (on Britain’s most scenic bus route!). You may choose to venture further afield by car - visiting York, Helmsley or perhaps take a trip on the NYMR Steam train from Pickering to Whitby, which we highly recommend. We include breakfast supplies to get you started.... usually home made granola, yoghurts, locally pressed apple juice and bread+jam for toast. Tea, locally roasted coffee, milk & sugar are also provided. Please let us know any dietary requirements or requests. We request that guests bring their own bath towels (we are trying to be a bit ‘greener’ by not having to wash bulky towels). We provide a hand towel & tea towel. WiFi is available near the cottage, it may be sporadic in The Hut due to the distance from the hub. Mobile phone reception can be limited, depending on your network provider. We see this as a bonus, it gives our guests the chance to properly switch off and unwind.
