SUMMARY Our private & clean & 600sf studio nests in our quiet & peaceful land, enjoying the purest oxygen & views into & beyond our 12-acre mature park sprinkled with seasonal organic fruit trees. ABOUT US We are originally from Argentina. In the early '90s, my brother Francisco Goya and I decided on moving to Maui and pursuing our windsurfing dream. Maui offers one of the most consistent wave sailing conditions in the world. I'm also an artist and love nature, so as an artist it is easy to get inspired by beautiful Maui. In (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) my mother purchased this amazing property; lucky us! One great benefit about our vacation rentals is meeting people from around the world who come to experience our beautiful and unique land. I feel beyond fortunate about being able to call our little spot in paradise my home; it is peaceful yet near everything I could possibly need and want, especially windsurfing. More things about myself and happy to share with you: finding the best in people inspires me greatly, and being thankful I need less and live happier. “When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.” - Aldo Leopold, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) WHY THIS PROPERTY Our property offers a great sense of grounding, getting back in touch with the earth and ourselves. By just sleeping or standing on this land, people's 5 senses come back to life and time seems to slow down a bit. Staying here with your loved ones, family and friends will most likely help you connect or reconnect. Mana Aina for me is a happy place, where everyone comes to have a good time, get together and feel in touch with nature, our lovely pets [my doggie Romeo], and Maui. For a pristine and manicured landscape where insects and birds are fumigated, you might want to stay at one of Maui's resorts on the South Shore. My doggie Romeo is the most social and loving dog I've ever met, and he is free to roam our property and greet our guests. Geographically Mana Aina is located in the heart of Haiku, where it is peaceful yet close to all the fun, great beaches, shopping, and restaurants. Also, what's amazing about this area is that it is all agricultural land and the properties are large offering lots of space, peace, and privacy. In some ways purchasing this property was made possible by my grandparents whom I love and respect for who they were and their life accomplishments. Living here reminds me of the time I had with them and how much a part of the word home they mean to me. So I'm beyond grateful to my mother for having the vision and courage to buy this wonderful land, and for giving me the opportunity to share this spot in paradise with thousands of wonderful guests from around the world. UNIQUE BENEFITS 12 acres of peace around the building, the property location is away from the noise, touristic areas, and the busy life, while at the same time, near it all. If you are looking for peace and to relax, or for action and adventure, it is all here and around us. ABOUT THE PROPERTY AND STUDIO Our private and clean 600sf studio nests in our quiet, peaceful land named Mana Aina that means the power of the earth in the Hawaiian language. Mana Aina sits on a privileged spot in beautiful Haiku, enjoying pure oxygen that comes from Hana wrapping around the national tropical forest that sits on the side of the Haleakala [dormant volcano]. The views from the studio go into and beyond our 12-acre mature park. Our studio is clean and well taken care of so you may enjoy a wonderful stay. The rental is made of bricks and painted stucco walls, tile floors, and high beam ceilings. As soon as you open the sliding doors, you are standing on a 12-acre park covered by a lush landscape with ornamental trees, tropical plants, seasonal fruit trees, and flowers. To tell you a bit more about the property, on the ocean side of Mana Aina there is a 50-acre forest. On the Eastside we have a big gulch with a seasonal water stream coming down from the Haleakala's rain forest which goes all the way down into the ocean where Jaws is located [one of the largest surfing/windsurfing waves in the world]. On the Haleakala side, we have another 50-acre property as quiet as ours. On the West Maui Mountains side, we have East Kuiaha Road which is a very quiet road. ABOUT THE BUILDING We rent 3 studios, together or separately. The studios are in 1 dwelling and are separated from each other by a 10 feet wide hallway and do not share any walls [they are 10 feet apart]. The walls on each side of the hallways are made of thick large bricks filled in with concrete and iron bars; these are not wood buildings. That's TWO 12 inch noise-proof walls to enhance privacy and noise control. Also, the hallways have their own roof keeping the spaces [with their own roof], apart from each other. Although it is a building with 3 studios connected by 2 hallways, they feel very private and each is positioned at different angles to enhance privacy. Each unit has its own entrance. BEDROOM The main bed is a calking size bed [medium softness], there is also a sofa/futon that may be turned into a full-size bed, a twin bed, and a queen bed. BATHROOM This is a private full bathroom with bathtub and overhead shower, 1 toilet, 1 bidet and 1 sink. We provide 1 clean set of towels per guest, 1 toilet paper roll, 1 small shampoo bottle, 1 small conditioner bottle and 1 bar of soap. BEDS We have more than 1 studio at our property with different bed options. When more than 2 guests please inquire on which would be the best option for you. BEDDING / TOWELS We provide 1 set of linens per bed, 1 set of bathroom towels & 1 set of beach towels per guest. DINING TABLE The dining table sits 4 people. DISHES AND UTENSILS Set of 4 dishes, utensils, water glasses & wine glasses. LAUNDRY Please keep in mind that the laundry room is open for you to use from 9 am until 7 pm. The laundry room is located to the side of the 3rd building's garage [3rd building from the gate on your left-hand side]. Please bring your own laundry detergent. INTERNET / TV We have satellite internet and satellite TV. The internet speed is 12 MBPS download 3 MBPS upload speeds. Speeds vary throughout the day with the slowest between 6-11 pm. Weather also affects speeds. DVD PLAYER We also have a DVD player. BOOKS There are some books on a shelf. If they are available they will be in the laundry room and you are most welcome to use them. Before checking out, please put them back in the laundry room. WASTE, NUISANCE & DISTURBANCE OF PEACE Mana Aina is a very tranquil place, so please help us keep it this way. If you decide to stay at our place, you are agreeing not to use or permit the use of our property for any unlawful purpose, not to disturb the peace of our neighbors or surrounding persons, nor to utilize or permit the use of the premises in such a manner as to constitute a disturbance of peace or a nuisance. No loud music or parties are allowed. If you would like to host an event with family and friends please let me know and we can talk about it. RATES Rates are subject to change until the reservation is confirmed. BOOKING ALTERATION FEES & COSTS We understand that vacation plans may unexpectedly change and we want to help, but if such changes do cost us time and money we might have to charge a $75 booking alteration fee plus other costs related to booking modifications or calendar availability loss. SHORT TERM STAYS We can only accept short booking requests when linking to existing bookings, otherwise, I may create a few day gaps of 1 or 2 days in between bookings that are challenging or not possible to fill in. Also, please note that we charge a $90 fee + tax for bookings of 4 nights or less. There is a laundry room available for guests in between 9 am & 8 pm. Please feel free to enjoy walking and jogging around the property. We welcome families and kids to use the park, but please be aware of noise. The park is to be shared while being aware of other guests' privacy & relaxing time. Quiet hours are between 8 pm to 10 am inside & outside buildings. No fruit picking from our property trees please [we host about 600 guests yearly]. There is a free parking area where you may park up to 2 cars, but if you have a 3rd car please let us know and we'll let you know where you may park it. We'll be happy to give you recommendations on places to visit or fun things to do on Maui, just ask. But beyond all, we respect your privacy and we wish you a most enjoyable and relaxing time while you are staying at our peaceful place. I'm an artist and art rep. If you are interested in abstract art please ask me for my website as (Hidden by Airbnb) does not let share personal info here. My brothers Francisco Goya and Lalo Goya own Quatro Windsurfing, Goya Sails plus some other windsurfing and surfing brands. Their research and development shop is here in Haiku 5 minutes away. If you need any gear you are welcome to mention that you are staying here with us. Although our property is very secluded and quiet, just 6 minutes away you will find some nice restaurants and shopping for groceries as well. If you enjoy organic and healthy foods, Mana Foods (our local grocery store in Paia) is just a short 10 minutes drive from here as well as the beach and a number of activities/adventures. The closest place where you may enjoy a yummy casual breakfast or lunch is at the Pauwela Cannery, a surfers' and windsurfers' favorite. The Haiku Cannery does have more eating out options than the Pauwela Cannery, but it is 3 minutes further away. At the Haiku Cannery, I very much enjoy the sushi at Nuka and the amazing burgers, pizza, pasta, salads and cold beer at Colleen's Restaurant. Around the corner from Nuka there is Maui Kombucha Bar, don't miss it! There is also Vegout for vegetarians across from Nuka. By the way, all these places are right next to the Haiku Post Office. There are also some more restaurants in this area and many good options to explore, but before I'm finished, I want to mention the Taco Truck and Tai wagon restaurant! If you are staying with us during wave season, you may want to visit Jaws to see tow surfing and windsurfing pushed to the extremes on some of the biggest rideable waves on the planet. Just drive straight down from our place towards the ocean, but make sure you are on a 4 wheel drive vehicle for the road down to Jaws, especially in muddy conditions! If you enjoy hiking through amazing and unique places, you might want to visit the Makawao Forest; just a beautiful 20 min drive from here. Also, if you are feeling adventurous, on the way to the Makawao forest a fun place to go is the Piiholo Ranch Zip Line. On the way down from the forest you may want to stop at Makawao Town to check out some locally owned stores or for a bite to eat. By the way, I love the sandwiches at Casanova's in Makawao. There are some small art galleries there too if you happen to enjoy painters who portray Maui's landscapes. Downhill from Makawao is Paia, a cool place patched with boutiques, restaurants and my favorite health food store Mana Foods. I would highly encourage shopping for groceries at Mana Foods, once you go there you'll see what I mean. The beach is also right in front of Paia and if you are up to a long walk on the beach, start right there and walk or swim towards Kahului; pass the rocks and coves and keep walking... also great for a jog or run. Although we do not have beachfront, there are several beautiful and unique beaches nearby such as Hookipa Beach Park, Tavares in Kuau Bay, Paia Bay, Baldwin Beach Park, Baby Beach, Spreckelsville & Kanaha Beach Park. If you want to check out some great streams and pools, Iao Valley is your spot hands down. This area is also known for its amazing hikes. It is above Old Wailuku. This is a personal favorite and place where I take friends while visiting Maui. There are so many great things to do and nearby places to visit from our property, like the Haleakala [volcano], Poli Poli, Kula, Twin Falls, including some secret spots like Commando Hike, I could go on and on. With that said, we hope you will get to enjoy staying at our property as we look forward to meeting you and talking about some of the beautiful places to explore and visit on Maui. There is public transportation through Hana Hwy to Haiku, but we highly recommend renting your own vehicle. BOOKINGS UNDER 4 NIGHTS Please note that we charge a $90 fee for bookings of 4 nights or less. Although we do accept short-term bookings of 2 3 or 4 nights, we do so only if we are not creating small gaps between bookings that might be challenging to eventually fill in. INTERNET Viasat, originally known as Exede, is the only company providing internet service to our area. We upgrade to 17 MBPS downloads & 5 MBPS uploads, which is the most expensive internet service with the highest speeds and most data this company offers. Between 5 pm and 10 pm and when is very rainy/cloudy, their internet connection gets slower. The reason why their internet is slower or even choppy when is very cloudy and rainy is that it is satellite internet. We already signed up for Earth Link [Elon Musk's new satellite internet company] with 100 MBPS to 160 MBPS, but we do not have the dish yet; hope soon. TV Satellite TV. FOOD AND SUPPLIES Please bring your own drinking water, food, laundry detergent, and everything else that you might need that is not listed as available in our amenities list and website. You are welcome to drink & cook with county water, but it has a chlorine taste. FOOD, WATER & SUPPLIES Please bring your own drinking water unless you don't mind drinking county tap water with chlorine taste [we also have a water filter by the kitchen sink]. Also bring your own food, laundry detergent, and everything else that you might need that is not listed as available in our amenities list and website. As well, keep in mind we do not have a replenishing service after our guests consume our complimentary & welcome supplies. We had some food smell issues in the past related to cooking meat in general [red meat, fish, chicken, etc.] when we had to refund upcoming guests their cleaning fee. We are ok with guests cooking meet in the studio, but we might opt to transfer your security deposit to our upcoming guests to compensate for having to deal with food smell. FRUIT PICKING Please NO fruit picking from our property trees, we host over 600 guests yearly.
