The top floor from 1770, when the original house was transformed with a grant from the Cranmer Estate to provide lodgings for ‘ladies & gentlemen’ on pilgrimages to Walsingham. Lord Nelson was known to stayover at the house, disembarking from the London/Fakenham coach, which completed its journey in what is now, Nelson Road. The coach horses grazed in what were fields opposite. The following morning, horses would be sent from Lord Nelson's parents' property at Burnham Thorpe so he could complete his journey home. Whole Tower Rooms House (semi-detached) Available by phone and happy to help with any queries. Fakenham is a market town in central North Norfolk, halfway between King's Lynn and Norwich. 10 Miles to Wells- Next-the-Sea , 20 miles to Cromer. There is a Thursday Market that dates back to 1250 and a Farmers Market on the last Saturday of each month with great locally grown organic produce! It's often called the Gateway to the North Norfolk Coast as it's well positioned for the coast and other local attractions like Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park and the Fakenham Racecourse. Easy to get to are Holkham Hall, Sandringham and the Thursford Collection of steam engines and funfair rides with its wonderful Christmas Spectacular Show - the largest of its kind in England. There are plenty of places to eat in the town including pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as a four screen cinema, 5 minutes walk away. Ideally you need a car to get the most of visiting North Norfolk but there are excellent regular bus services in Fakenham town centre to the coast and Norwich. Winding staircase not suitable for small children (no children under 12yrs), elderly and people with mobility issues. No pets allowed.
