Magical country cottage in beautiful 8 acre estate

A magical 17th century cottage nestling in the South Downs National Park and set in a beautiful 8 acre garden with an ornamental pond, rare wildflower meadow and lake with black swans and diving ducks. The host housekeeper, Olga, lives in the barn cottage which is next to Clouds Hill cottage but separated by a wide side terrace overhung with flowering shrubs and shielded by a large hedge. Olga will welcome you to the property, provide keys and help with questions if needed. She can provide a list of recommended and experienced local baby sitters if you fancy an evening out at one of our excellent, award winning local pubs or restaurants. Olga is always mindful of guest privacy and she is not usually in her cottage during the day, but you will find her number in the House Manual. This cottage is surrounded by woodland walks as it adjoins the South Downs National Park and the Cowdray Estate with its ruined castle. It is 15 minutes by car from the small historic market towns of Midhurst and Petworth and the South Coast beaches at West Wittering are 45 minutes drive away. There is parking for several cars at the property and a 45 minute train journey to London from the local station, which is a 10 minutes drive from the cottage. Taxis are available from the rank at the station and there are a lot of taxi companies in the area. The property is located in a remote area in the South Downs National Park and there are no buses nearby. Guests will need a car to explore the area more widely.
