Chatsworth Cottage
Situated on the edge of the Peak District Park, this is the ideal base for exploring Derbyshire. The Cottage is situated on Chatsworth Road just 10 minutes drive from the ‘Palace of the Peak District’. A short journey and you will discover other wonders of the Peak at places like Matlock, Bakewell, Castleton and Buxton. The historic market town of Chesterfield and the famous Crooked Spire is just a 20 minute walk down the Brampton Mile where you will find some great places to shop, eat & drink. Chatsworth Cottage has a lovely kitchen and dining area which is great for meal times and also for playing family games around the table (you will find classic board games at the cottage). Fridge/freezer, hob, oven, microwave and all cooking utensils are provided. A washing machine is free to use at the cottage along with an ironing board and iron. The cosy living room has a comfortable sofa, two arm chairs, a fire place and 32 inch Smart HD TV with Freeview Play, YouTube, Netflix & Amazon (with an account). A small selection books, maps, walking routes, transport guides and information on local attractions can be found next to the fireplace. A brand new bathroom is located downstairs which has both bath and showering facilities. Upstairs, you have two bedrooms, one with a fulsome double bed, fitted wardrobes, drawers, full length mirror and TV for playing DVDs. The second bedroom has two comfortable single beds, set of drawers and handy storage cupboard. We have a futon style sofa bed downstairs which would sleep an additional guest if need be (extra bedding provided). Super-fast Wi Fi can be picked up throughout the house and there is a DAB radio to use in the kitchen/dining room. Guests have access to the whole house and also the beautiful garden and patio area to the rear of the cottage. Access to the rear of the property is shared with the next door neighbour so please be considerate at all times when using this. Guests have previously been met on arrival but a lockbox check-in system is currently in place. Your host will be happy to answer any questions about the area, where to go, places to see and things to do? Your host will always be on the end of the phone to help you during your stay. Let us know if you need picking up from the train or bus station as it might be possible to arrange this for you. Just a few minutes walk down Chatsworth Road from the cottage you will find a Morrisons (supermarket) for all your essentials. The Union Jack traditional fish & chip shop is just across the road with Chinese and Indian takeaways nearby too. There are some great local walks with parks and open spaces to explore. Walking East towards Chesterfield town centre you will find Chatsworth Road is a vibrant place to browse and enjoy. You will find a variety of traditional (real ale) pubs down the legendary ‘Brampton Mile’. You will also discover fine restaurants, coffee shops, bistros and lots of independent shops/boutiques. Chesterfield town centre offers great shopping, food & drink, market days, multi screen cinema, museum, theatres and much much more! For breakfast you have lots of choice on your door step with Koo Coffee and Deli, Libby’s Café, Blue Bistro, Morrison’s Café or Dolly's Deli. A short drive and you can find some outstanding places to eat in Holymoorside (The Bull), Baslow (Rowley’s & Fischer’s), and The Peacock in Barlow is recommended for fantastic food and stunning views from the terrace. Brampton and Chesterfield can easily be explored on foot and there are bus stops right outside the cottage and along Chatsworth Road if/when needed. Bus routes heading West will take you into the heart of the Peak District (bus timetables available at the cottage) and there are regular buses going into Chesterfield town centre, Matlock and Bakewell. There are several cycle routes in and around Chesterfield, one leading you into Queens Park and also heading down by Chesterfield Canal towards the Trans Pennine Trail. Other Derbyshire routes include The High Peak, Tissington and Monsal Peak Trails - miles and miles of traffic free exploring for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users . Chesterfield Train Station can get you into Sheffield City Centre and Meadowhall in 20 minutes, Leeds (1 hour) or York (1 hr 15 mins). Local taxis are also easily available, affordable and a convenient way to get around town. When booking, please let your host know if a dog will be staying with you. Although Chatsworth Cottage is dog friendly, we ask guests to try and keep their pets downstairs and keep them off the furniture, especially the beds. It is advised that you bring your own dog bed/crate and blankets. We also ask you to have the utmost consideration for your neighbours at all times and especially late at night and early in the morning. If it’s a party weekend you are after then this is not the place for you! Thank you for your understanding.
