Remote isolated rural escape with WiFi and hot tub
Perfect for a romantic getaway or oodles of family fun, here you can return to nature with a little bit of first world luxury thrown in. Our Mongolian built yurt - or ger - sleeps up to 5 and comes complete with wood burner for those cooler evenings (and the freezing ones of course). With your own cooking and washing facilities very close by you don't have to do everything outside in the elements - your choice of course! But if you want to luxuriate in the Jacuzzi hot tub then out you go... Buried deep in the county of Suffolk in the Alde valley, you can find us half a mile from the nearest road up an unmade track accessing no other dwellings. Please be advised that lowered cars or those with sports suspension may struggle despite our ongoing road maintenance program! Best to contact us if you are concerned. Unlike many other sites offering 'getting re-acquainted with nature type accommodation' you will find yourself alone, with total privacy and absolutely no shared facilities. We live in the farmhouse about 70 yards away, effectively out of the way! We are about 10 miles from the coast, Aldeburgh being a 20 minute drive and the ever popular Southwold, home to Adnams brewery, 30 minutes away. Must see places like Sutton Hoo, Minsmere Nature Reserve, Orford and Framlingham castles are all within easy striking distance for days out. Although our favourite comment left by a guest was "Why would you want to go anywhere?" The Yurt A traditional Mongolian yurt, designed and evolved to cope with extremes of climate so far not endured by us. At just under 6m diameter, the yurt is heated in the time honoured fashion by a wood burner. The king size double bed looks out over open fields (when the door is not closed..) and if it is a family stay then 3 day beds are the order of the day. Please note that all linen, bedding and towels are provided. We supply sleeping bags for the day beds, if you would prefer duvets please feel free to bring your own. There is no running water in the yurt but there is mains electricity for lighting, charging etc The Facilities Just a few paces away from the yurt a cunningly disguised touring van houses the cooking and ablutions department. The cooking area is well appointed with a full size gas cooker, electric fridge and kettle. Whether you choose to eat in here, inside the yurt itself or al fresco will of course depend on the dictats of the weather and how the mood takes you. The choice is yours! There is a full size shower, WC and wash basin, all run off mains water. A little time needs to be allowed between showers for the hot water to heat up. The drainage system is decidedly first world and should require no attention for the duration of your stay. And finally......The Hot Tub! Perhaps not so traditional to the nomadic lifestyle the hot tub is more of a nod to modern holiday preferences, whether as a couple or the whole family. A distinctly modern amenity, this multi-jet state of the art facility should melt away the strains and stresses of all but the most unreachable! With room to seat 5 in comfort the Jacuzzi Spa is for your own exclusive use for the duration of your time here. Full and exclusive use of the yurt, hot tub, decking area and touring van. A gas barbecue is also provided. There is about an acre of meadow land surrounding the yurt for your enjoyment and plenty of walks around the surrounding fields. We are always available, either by phone, text or email. Or preferably by a good old fashioned knock on the door - assuming we are in! Indeed we actively encourage guests to seek help/advice if required. If the hot tub is in regular use we do need to check it daily. We have plenty of return guests so come and find out the attraction for yourselves! Having your own car is essential, although we have had a few guests arrive by bicycle. The nearest railway station is Saxmundham just over 4 miles away. You are more than welcome to bring bikes, there are plenty of good routes, pub trips etc. Public footpaths abound, taxi firms do exist but don't expect to find a bus service. Pets are not allowed because we have dogs and cats on the farm and they are not so keen to share the premises. Depending on our chickens' productivity you may be in luck with some free range eggs - not guaranteed!
