Recently renovated 1st floor apartment. Huge living area with a sofa bed and large balcony with water views and just 2 minutes walk to the sea, tavernas and bars. Located in a lemon grove 5 kms from Egion on the northern tip of the Peloponnese, mainland Greece. A very large recently renovated 1st floor apartment with marble floors clean and modern fittings and 2 large balconies. Valimitika is situated 180 kms west of Athens on the tip of the Peloponnese. Internet can be arranged but the local taverna is the ideal location to answer emails, surf the net while sipping your cafe freddo. In the mornings buses run every half hour to the town of Egion, a bustling Greek town of 30,000 with all amenities and with the diversity of fresh fruit and vegies as well as sophisticated shopping. Egion has a museum and every Saturday morning hosts a market of locally grown produce as well as clothing and bargains are abundant. The village of Valimitika has a 'general store' where basic items can be bought and there are a number of tavernas, Galini, Touristiko and the unique 'Railway Station' where meat eaters are in for a treat. There's another apartment, directly beneath this one that is also listed, 'A Greek Village By The Sea'. There is generally someone around who speaks English. Valimitika is a working lemon grove. In addition to the lemons, other citrus is grown as will as olives and various fruits and vegetables. It's a working community so there will be tractors and other farming noises. Every morning the sound of the tooting horn announces the arrival of the local baker and he stops at the apartment so you can purchase loaves of bread, rolls and pastries. There is also a vegie truck and fish monger driving through the village alerting us of their arrival. Huge private balcony and all garden areas are accessible. The renovated 1st floor apartment is available from early May to late September. There's another apartment, directly underneath that is available all year round. There is generally someone around who speaks English. Valimitika is a working lemon grove. In addition to the lemons, other citrus is grown as will as olives and various fruits and vegetables. The accommodation is no more than a 2 minute walk to the water and various tavernas. The locals generally work the land to produce lemons, oranges and various other fruits. What comes with this is the use of small farming vehicles. The village has a normal population of 400 but it doubles in the summer. In Valimitika and the neighboring village of Temeni everything you want or need is within walking distance. The town of Egion is just 5 kms away and can be accessed via a regular bus service. A luxury bus will get you from Athens to Egion in about 2 1/4 hours and then just a 10 minute taxi ride out to the village. Valimitika is a great place to base yourself if you want to explore the mainland of Greece. Delphi and Olympia and spectacular towns and tourist spots are all day trips. The village offers numerous tavernas and bars right at the water's edge.
