Bed & breakfast in cosy cottage in centre of Lewes
Pretty cottage in the heart of Lewes with courtyard garden. Quiet location with very easy access to: - pubs (Harvey's), cafes & restaurants - Charleston and Monks House with guided tours (15 mins by car); - Pells outdoor swimming pool; - Depot cinema and café; - Antique markets and art galleries; - South Downs for long country walks - minibuses to Glyndebourne opera house. There is a shared parking space for one small car or free parking on the road from 5pm-9am. The house is an old converted brewery on three levels with a pretty courtyard garden right in the centre of Lewes, two minutes' walk from the railway station, High Street, bus to Glynde, pubs, restaurants, cinema and open air swimming pool. We have a large kitchen/diner, a sitting room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The guest bedroom has a 4' double bed with a firm mattress, duvet and pillows (or anti-allergy if you prefer) and cotton sheets. There are extra blankets if you need then. Please note I only take single bookings. I aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I know the local area well and am happy to advise. You are free to come and go as you please. Everyone is welcome in my home. You have your own room with access to the bathroom, living room and garden. You are welcome to use the kitchen to heat up and eat your food. Please leave the kitchen clean and tidy. You are welcome to make tea or fresh coffee in the kitchen. I am very happy to help during your stay, so please ask if there is anything you need. Recommended: Lewes Castle (Norman) and Barbican Museum, Anne of Cleves house and Lewes Priory are all within walking distance and well worth a visit. There is a detailed description on (Website hidden by Airbnb) Many of my guests are visitors to Glyndebourne opera house; there is a regular bus service from Lewes station (2 mins walk). Fans of literature will love Charleston, the beautiful country home of Vanessa Bell and the Bloomsbury Group. Regular tours are available and fascinating. Great tea room and art gallery. At nearby Rodmell is Monks House, home of Virgninia Wolfe (15 mins by car). Tours also available. Lewes is fantastic for country walks and a wealth of country pubs and restaurants. The house is two minutes' walk from the station and bus stops. There is a parking space behind the house, which you are welcome to use. Guests have a key and are welcome to come and go as they please. Check in and out times are flexible and negotiable.
