Our remarkable bed&breakfast (at the edge of the French Ardennes we offer you large, bright rooms, provided with all comfort. Our bathrooms are large and equipped with walk-in showers. The breakfast is extensive, with various types of bread and croissants from the best baker in the area! In the evening, you are invited to have dinner in our beautiful salon, entirely made of oak wood. We will prepare a delicious meal for you! In our romantic garden with private courtyard you find a jacuzzi! Our 5 quiet rooms are large, bright and colourfully decorated. We have tried to keep the old atmosphere of the house, but with the comfort of the 21st century. The rooms are very comfortable: for your holiday, midweek, weekend or just passing through. Of course, each room has its own luxurious bathroom, with large walk-in shower. All rooms have their own entrance, separate from our part of the house. One room is located on the ground floor and is therefore very suitable if you are less mobile. The beds are 1.60m x 2m and very comfortable! It is also possible to make 2 single beds if you like. There is a television and WIFI. There is also a coffee machine and a water boiler in every room. Thanks to the large windows in the rooms, you always have a nice view of the old part of the village. Each room has electric shutters, so that it is really dark at night. Breakfast is served every morning in our large lounge, which is entirely made of oak wood. Our bread and croissants come from the local bakery (the best in the region!), who still bakes traditionally in his wood oven. Furthermore there is fruit juice, homemade jam, cheese, cold cuts, yoghurt and of course good coffee and tea. Our house is built in a U-shape: there is a romantic and quiet courtyard where you can sit and, when the weather is nice, we serve the evening meal. Furthermore, the entire garden of the house is at your disposal. Your dog is very welcome with us! We have 2 dogs ourselves. We serve breakfast and dinner in our salon. If it's nice weather, we can also serve it on our romantic courtyard. Of course you can use the salon and the garden the whole day! We will be there to serve the meals or some drinks. If you want to have information of the environment: we like to inform you us much as possible. The beautiful hilly landscape of Thiérache, at the border of the French Ardennes, are perfect for walking and cycling endlessly. The sloping landscape is very varied with small timeless villages and breathtaking views. For centuries, agriculture and cattle breeding have determined the image of meadows separated by small rivers and low hedges, giving the whole a charming appearance. 3 kilometres away, the French Ardennes begin for those who are looking for more of a challenge in terms of height difference. Of course we have various routes available, for a whole day walking or cycling both on paper and on GPS. Most walking and cycling routes start in Rozoy-sur-Serre. These routes vary in distance and run both on paved and unpaved roads. You can feel the rest in this area; it is so quiet that you can walk and cycle on the paved roads without any problems; you will hardly meet anyone. When you are walking, cycling or driving around there is a high probability that you wil see wild animals, such as deer, birds of prey, pheasants and even sometimes a fox, marten or squirrel. The wild boar is the symbol for the Ardennen, but you'll rather see the marks in the woods than the boar itself. Also on your motorbike you can easily drive on the quiet roads and enjoy the views. The winding roads arn't boring at all and every 5 km you'll arrive in a small village. For a change of scenery, you can also make a daytrip: the champagne capital Reims (55 km), the medieval city of Laon (45 km) where you can also visit part of the underground city. Near Laon you find the 'Chemin des dames' with several war memorials from the first World War. You can also visit Charleville-Mézières (50 km), actually two cities separated by the Meuse River that runs straight through these two cities. Along the Meuse River is a flat path for walking and cycling only. Another unique daytrip is when you go to Guise (50 km) where you can easily spend a whole day in the familistère and the tour that rest of the castle of the duc of Guise. Special in this region are the fortified churches, where in times of turbulence the population could be sheltered. An example can be found in Parfondeval (5 km), which is classified as one of the 'most beautiful villages in France'. You can park for free just before our house in a very calm street. TGV-station in Rethel at 25 kilometres.
