Old farmhouse in the heart of Flanders
Set in a vast garden in the heart of the countryside, this flat is in fact the entire upper floor of my house, with a separate access by outside stair. You are free to come and go as you please, but I am on hand to help you settle in and help with any problems if necessary. NB Prices are per person: for a couple =60 euros Many people think of the North of France as industrial, but this part of Flanders is very much in the country. You'll find you get an excellent night's sleep as no cars go past. The flat contains a large kitchen with all the basics in the fridge. Croissants and bread are supplied every day for your breakfast. There's a living area with two sofas, a TV, wifi access, board games and tourist information. The bathroom, overlooking the garden, has a shower, wash-hand basin, toilet, and piles of towels. There are three large bedrooms each with a comfortable double bed and writing table. In one of the rooms you'll find a baby's cot (forup to 3 years old) If necessary, a small bedroom with twin beds can be made available The garden is vast with tables for eating (or drinking) outside, and the is plenty of space for parking. Rambling overgrown garden with sheltered courtyard, lovely for sitting outside with a drink . Plenty of space for children to play, no dangers. Unsuitable for elderly people as upstairs, no access unfortunately for wheelchairs. The flat is self-contained. I'm always on hand to help you find your way around and suggest outings: local markets,or trips to bustling historic Lille (1h), the beach (1h), Ypres with its Great War associations, Bellewaerde theme park (Ih) etc Quiet rural area with lots of country walks in the woods and along the canals. Great for cycling, flat with little traffic. One hour from Lille, Ypres, Bellewaerde theme park or the beach. Saturday market in nearby Saint Omer. Slightly further afield: Brussels (2h) Paris (3h) Bruges (90 mins) Ghent (2h) About 1 hour 30 from Calais Eurostar terminal. Nearest train station (on TGV line) is Hazebrouck, 6 miles away. I enjoy reading and sewing, so please borrow my books or finish your embroidery. Lovely country walks all around, and great for cycling...quiet and flat! Non-touristy part of France/Belgium which is well worth exploring. I can have a warm meal ready in the oven in the evening if you wish.
