Traditional 3 Dbl Bed Cottage with Garden & Views
Newly refurbished Glen Cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Mickleton in Upper Teesdale in the North Pennines AONB just off the Pennine Way Walk and close to High Force Waterfall. , Glen Cottage can accommodate upto 3 couples, or family (with older kids) in a 2 bed cottage with linked 1 bed Barn; comprising large dual aspect living/dining room, new modern kitchen, spacious en-suite master bedroom, second queensized bedroom, family bathroom and twin Barn bedroom with stunning views The Cottage has a very large paddock garden (even space for your horse) complete with patio seating area for 6 & great views across the Upper Tees valley. The cottage itself has just been recently fully refurbished to a very high standard and is very well equipped with fast broadband wifi connection and USB charging points, TV's are with a freesat box with over 100 free channels (or skybox -bring your card if you have one for your subscription channels) Games and books are also provided A Midi Hifi system with remote is supplied for playing your CD's and listening to music, (a lead connecting to your mobile phone headphone socket will allow you to play your own downloaded music through the amp & HiFi speakers). N.B. For much younger children we recommend they don't use the twin Barn room unattended as we feel it is a little remote for safe parental observation coupled with a steeper staircase and no stair guards. Instead we are able to decorate the double room next to the Master bedroom with Pooh Bear duvet and matching wall pictures to make it a lovely space for youngsters. A large driveway is accessed from the main road and leads to a concrete hardstanding for addition parking if more than 3 cars are visiting at any one time. My son Trevor manages the cottage remotely and is available to answer any questions or arrange for local assistance in case of emergency on the number supplied with the booking. If confirmed as Covid-19 positive, guests will be asked to vacate the cottage and return home if able, to allow for appropriate cleaning of the cottage for the next check in If unable to return home, guests must self-isolate at the cottage at their own expense (guests will be required to pay for the additional time) Mickleton has a great dining pub The Crown, 3 mins walk away along the village High Street and 2 other excellent eateries within 2-4 miles of the cottage . A well stocked CO-OP supermarket is found in Middleton in Teesdale just 2 miles away. The cottage resides within a beautiful rural farming community. Barnard Castle on the river Tees is an 8 mile drive to visit the famous Bowes Museum , its Castle ruins and the weekly markets and is home to many lovely restaurants, pubs, and individual shops. Further up Teesdale are scenic walks along the river passing low force waterfalls before rising to the majestic High Force waterfall - a walk not to be missed. Many other beautiful walks and cycle rides abound over the fells in all directions. Further afield you can access the Yorkshire Dales National Park within a 40 min drive or the beautiful cathedral city of Durham in a similar time. Even the Yorks Moors National park or the Lake District National Park can both be visited for a day trip so handy is its central location on the Pennines. A cottage info pack and local tourist information leaflets have been supplied to help you get the best from your visit and the locals are usually ever helpful in sharing their beautiful world with visitors. Mickleton is about a 20 mins drive from the A66 trans Pennine route anda local bus stop 100m from the cottage links the village with Middleton in Teesdale and Barnard Castle on a circular route and stops every hour in both directions. Many scenic drives compliment all the cycle and walking routes in this picturesque but sometimes challenging landscape of Hannah Hauxwell fame. If you are interested to make a reservation request could please let me know the make up and ages of the group and due to covid where you are all coming from: eg 3 couples aged 28-32 from Chorlton,Didsbury and Stockport, Manchester OR family of 5 with 3 children aged 12,14,17 from Norwich etc many thanks. N.B. The Cottage 2 bedrooms can share the Master Ensuite bathroom if close family otherwise the adjacent queensized second bedroom occupants would need to use the family bathroom in the linked Barn which is also where the twin bedroom is, this Twin room may not suitable for young children as it will be remote from the Main cottage bedrooms and has a steep staircase, so they will need to be fully independent and we therefore recommend a minimum age of 8 upwards for the twin and child safety must be assessed by the parents at all times throughout the stay in the premises.
