Stunning, clean 1BR premium apt/amenities/1Gb FiOS
Our carefully upgraded, clean basement apartment is your next perfect pad. On a quiet street yet close to everything. 5 min walk to quality grocers. Easy, free street parking. Keycode access. Apt incl. premium queen bed, full kitchen, Smart TV, cable, Roku, super fast internet, private office, central heat A/C, bbq and for long stays, washer/dryer (see House Manual). 20min drive to NYC, 20min NYC bus (2 blocks to #44 Decamp Bus), 10 blocks to NJ Transit Main Line train, 5 miles to Newark. The space is perfect for a semester stint, a WFH setup, a sabbatical recharge or an extended vacation. Friends have nicknamed this the "honey house" because everyone seems to want to stay longer than planned! We like to think it's because they feel so comfortable, with the design, layout, cleanliness, lighting, amenities, location (and hospitality, I hope). The private apartment has a separate keycode entrance, super-fast internet, an office room, a bar, games, a premium smart TV, and a full kitchen setup. Please read the Check-in Instructions and House Manual prior to check-in to get the most out of your stay. I also recommend you scan the Guidebooks I put together. Private use of basement apartment via separate outdoor side entrance. * Door: Please remember to close the door VERY gently and to not tug too hard. This helps the smart lock work smoothly!! Please read the Check-in Instructions and House Manual prior to booking - it will help answer many of your questions. I will try to be here to welcome you upon arrival. Either way, I will message you with your custom PIN code by the night before. We may be in and out of the house upstairs during your stay. Some guests prefer sharing conversation, while others want lots of privacy and prefer to communicate via Airbnb. Totally cool either way, just lmk if you have a strong preference... If you want any tips for things to do, places to eat, shop, please refer to the Guidebooks I put together, and you can also ask me during your stay. Our neighborhood is peaceful, yet close to everything. We are 10 miles from Manhattan, and you can reach NYC in less than 30 min via car and bus, and by train it's 30-40 min given the Secaucus transfer. Metlife/Giants Stadium and the American Dream complex are about 2 miles away. Newark is 5 miles away, and it feels like every store imaginable is within 20 min. Several major highways are within 10 min (NJ Turnpike, GS Parkway, Rt 3, Rt 46, Rt 21). 5 blocks away we have a riverfront park that includes tennis courts, playground, running track, picnic areas and fields. For food, we are near some of the most authentic, best value Italian and Portuguese eateries in the US imho. There is an awesome Portuguese BBQ restaurant and grocery 2 blocks away, a real Italian grandma Italian eatery 2 blocks away, plus a gem of a sushi place a 5 min drive from here - a few blocks from the Shop-Rite supermarket. We are 10 min away from 2 cineplexes (I prefer the one in Secaucus). There are two dry cleaning options within 2 blocks and maybe dozens of beauty salons in the zip code - this might be the salon capital of the U.S. Finally, Lyndhurst apparently has the best TJ Maxx and Homegoods stores in NJ (I've been told this by an odd # of people). The next town over, Rutherford, has a BYOB restaurant scene worth checking out. I also highly recommend Newark's Ironbound section, Montclair, Hoboken and Jersey City - each 15 min away. Please check out the Guidebooks I prepared for tips, names and addresses of recommended locales nearby. We have free street parking out front, and if you happen to be here on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm (street cleaning), you can park in our driveway. We are blessed with great public transport, particularly in comparison to similar towns. There are two express DeCamp Bus lines to NY (#99 and #44) only 3 blocks away on Ridge Road, across the street from the CVS, which gets you to Port Authority in 20-30 min (it takes longer if you go between 3pm - 6pm). Train is also a good option if you miss the bus. I suggest it more if you plan to head out mid-afternoon or night, or if you just hate buses. The Main Line "Kingsland" station is 12 blocks away, and trains head to Hoboken, where you can transfer to the PATH Train - about 7 min from World Trade Center. If you transfer at Secaucus, which is the first stop (7 min), you can catch trains headed to NY Penn Station (about 7 min). The transfer wait varies between 5 - 15 min. We are 25 min from Newark Airport - taxi service costs about $40 I think. Have them pick you up / drop you off from the corner of our block on North Arlington side - cheaper by $15! Or Uber/Lyft. Coming from JFK or LaGuardia, find your way to the Port Authority Bus Terminal (take DeCamp bus to Lyndhurst, exit at Ridge Road and Jauncey Avenue) or from NY Penn Station: any NJ Transit train that stops at Secaucus, then transfer to "yellow" Main Line, first stop is Kingsland (in Lyndhurst). Walk/ride 12 blocks. The apartment has central heat and A/C, and is thermometer monitored, yet the heating / cooling is controlled upstairs. If you need the temperature settings changed, just shoot me a note and I'll update it for you (I can from my phone even if offsite). If you plan to stay at least 2 weeks, you can use the washer and dryer, plus detergents. Please give me a heads up so I can quickly show you how to best use the machines >> This is a requirement. I have proper care instructions listed in the House Manual, and I'm happy to assist in person too. Cleaning Bonus If you are staying for over one month, you will get a cleaning bonus (about every 2 weeks)! Who is around My brother and I work upstairs and from the garage across the backyard most days, along with a couple of colleagues on certain days. My sweet 5 year old son is with me on weekends and friends may come over on a few other days, so you may hear some extra patter. You will be the only Airbnb guest staying on site.
