The comfortable lounge/diner has the added advantage of a large king size sofa bed offering flexible accommodation for up to 6 persons. An open plan staircase leads up to two cottage style bedrooms with good storage. A luxury shower room with WC is on the ground floor. Outside offers a private terrace area with tables and chairs for sole use of guests. The Pool House is set at the foot of the North Downs and is ideal for families or couples. Private, quiet and cosy that offers a relaxing atmosphere. It is perfect for all year round visits. Using The Pool House as a central base allows guests to visit all major London tourist destinations easily and safely. Major road networks and rail stations are close by and are easy to access. Ideal for flight stop overs as London Gatwick is only 15 minutes by road or train and London Heathrow is 45 minutes by road. In these troubling covid times self check in is a feature of The Pool House. With separate private access with off road parking for two vehicles in front of The Pool House. Privacy and relaxation can be assured. Because of the shingle driveways and the three steps to the entrance and the added concern of the internal staircase The Pool House may not be suitable for the very elderly or wheel chair users without some difficulty. However, guests can always make contact to ascertain whether these concerns can be addressed and perhaps overcome. Contact via Airbnb site or mobile. The Pool House is situated at the foot of the North Downs within the Surrey Hills and designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. On the route of the North Downs Way and Pilgrims Way where walkers and hikers alike enjoy the beautiful countryside. Ideal for a stop over for those with weary legs travelling on the Pilgrims Way walking route to Canterbury. Yet, we are still sufficiently central to allow fast access to all the major tourist destinations of London and the South East including all the major sporting events in and around London that take place during the sporting year. Epsom racecourse, for the Derby, is within an 8 mile drive and Wimbledon, for the tennis, is only 12 miles away. Walton Heath tournament golf course is 5 miles away and Brands Hatch race circuit is approximately 30 minute drive away. There are National Trust properties close by in abundance, whether to visit the estates or the magnificent gardens and all are easily accessible as well as other English Heritage historic sites that are located throughout the south east. The RHS gardens and estate at Wisley is within a 25 minute drive. Leeds Castle in Kent and Chartwell, Sir Winston Churchill’s House, are both easily accessible. Hampton Court Palace is within a 40 minute drive and easily accessible by public transport. Arundel Castle is within a 45 minute drive. Merstham fields it’s own cricket club and there are several clay pigeon shooting clubs nearby as well as Redhill Tennis Club plus other local golf clubs should guests prefer to participate. We are under 10 minutes drive from The Nutfield Priory Hotel and Spa with its Conference Centre, The Surrey National Golf Club and The Reigate Hill Golf Club and event centres. Close by, in Reigate and in the surrounding countryside, there are good restaurants to suit all tastes and many other fine local gastro pubs worthy of a visit. Major supermarkets and delicatessens and specialist food outlets are situated locally if eating in is preferred. The London Orbital Motorway (M25) is close by and gives good access to the M23, M20, M26, M4 and M40. Local road networks include the A25 and A23. These road networks give good access to the south east of England and beyond, should time permit. Access to the M25 is within a 10 minute drive. Merstham railway station, a 12 minute walk, offers fast and frequent access to London, Gatwick and the South Coast. Changing trains at other connecting termini allows access further afield, should time allow. Local and national bus and coach routes offer an alternative way to travel and there are local stops that are within a reasonable walking distance. There is a no pet policy and a no smoking policy for the comfort of other guests. Unfortunately The Pool House is not available for party hire or as an event venue. A travel cot is available should it be requested as is a babies high chair. Arrangements can be made to leave vehicles at The Pool House if departing from Gatwick.
