Picturesque Grade II Listed house nestled on a cathedral street, within the heart of the city centre. Within minutes of the Cathedral, Winchester College and St Catherine’s Hill. The property, which benefits throughout from unexpectedly spacious rooms, has been extensively and sympathetically modernised, combining its fabulous heritage with a light and airy interior. Outside there is pretty courtyard garden which is west facing. One dog is possible by prior arrangement. 7 St Thomas Mews is a Grade II Listed home in one of the prestigious cathedral streets within the city walls. The property is accessed via a private road leading to the garage and parking. The front door leads into an entrance hall and then into the L shaped kitchen/dining/utility room. Also off the entrance hall is a cloakroom with basin and wc, and stairs leading to the first floor. Under the stairs there is a useful storage space. The kitchen is fully equipped including a microwave and coffee machine and follows around to the utility area with a large fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble drier, iron and ironing board. The dining area has French doors opening on to a west-facing courtyard garden. There is an extendable table which seats six un-extended. There is also a comfy leather armchair and a television. On the first floor there is beautiful dual aspect sitting room with featured curved wall and a built-in bookcase. There is a bedroom on this level with bunkbeds which are suitable for young adults. The bottom bunk is 183cm (6 ft) in the length and the upper bunk slightly longer at 190cm (6ft 3in). There is a staircase leading to the second floor where there are two double bedrooms and a shower room. The master bedroom has a super king sleigh bed and an en-suite bathroom with bath, basin and wc. This bedroom has two large built-in wardrobes and a large double chest of drawers. The 2nd double bedroom on this floor has a standard double bed, a built-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Also on the top floor is a separate shower room with shower, basin and wc. All three floors have underfloor heating controlled by independent thermostats which makes for a very cosy home. Car Parking - There is sought-after private parking at the property. The garage is located immediately next to the garden gate. There is space for one car in front of the garage and room for one small hatchback sized car in the garage. In addition, there are plenty of public car parks situated nearby if required. St Thomas Street is in Winchester's city centre and just a short walk to the railway station. There is a broad selection of boutique shops, fine restaurants and a wide range of cafés and bars in Winchester as well as the famous Cathedral and beautiful Water Meadows. The surrounding countryside has a network of footpaths and bridleways for walking and cycling. The house enjoys Superfast fibre-to-the-premises internet (FTTP) with download speeds in excess of 100 Mbps with wifi available in all rooms. There is a 32 inch Sony television in the kitchen, and a 43 inch Sony television in the sitting room. Both have access to Freeview digital television, and both can accommodate an HDMI plug should you wish to stream from your own devices. There are two Amazon Echo speakers - one in the kitchen area and one in the sitting room. These enable you to steam music from your own devices or connect to the internet for music and radio. They also connect to the Amazon 'Alexa' app should you wish to make use of that. Every room has a discreetly placed multi-socket extension lead with provision to connect all international electrical plugs and USB powered devices. For reasons of confidence in hygiene standards there is no high chair or travel cot at the house and these must be provided by the guests should they be required. Hosts live locally, guests are given access to the keys via a key safe but of course advice and support is available when ever required. The famous Cathedral, Wykeham Arms Inn, and trendy cafés and restaurants are close by. The railway station is just a 5 minute walk away. The Cathedral, Winchester College, Great Hall, Military Museums, Jane Austen's house and historic High Street are all within 500 metres. The Everyman Cinema, Hotel du Vin and the Green Man pub are all just around the corner. It is a 5 minute stroll to the award winning Wykeham Arms pub. Easy walks to St Cross Church, St Catherine’s Hill and more. Other things to note: The house is not suitable at all for house parties, hen weekends, late night music etc – but perfect as a comfortable base from which to explore this beautiful city and discover for yourselves why Winchester has been voted ‘Best Place to Live’ in recent national surveys. Single sex groups by prior arrangement. It is a few steps to the Cathedral, the Christmas market in December, and Jane Austen’s Winchester residence. Outside: A small walled courtyard with table and chairs. Important: St Thomas Mews is a quiet residential area with close neighbours. The garden area is lovely for enjoying a drink or quiet chat. The garden area is not suitable for loud or noisy groups. If your group fits this description St Thomas Mews is not for you. Accessibility: Located in the heart of historic Winchester 200 metres from the shopping centre with views towards the cathedral and beyond to St Catherine's Hill and St Giles Hill. The property is situated ideally for the pedestrian shopping centre in the High Street, with access to a wealth of shops, restaurants and recreational facilities including the Theatre Royal and local cinema. Winchester College and the water meadows of St Cross, which stretch along the banks of the River Itchen are nearby. There are splendid walks through the historic cathedral streets, the water meadows and on to St Catherine's Hill. Winchester is 60 minutes by train from London Waterloo. The M3 motorway (junctions 9, 10 and 11) is within easy reach, making both London and Southampton readily accessible. There is a quick and reliable train service to Southampton airport and the interconnection with the M27 makes Southampton International Airport easily commutable and also opens up the south coast and the New Forest. The A34 to the north provides access to Oxford, the Midlands and the A303 to the West Country. London – 70 miles (all mileages approximate) We are sorry but due to the layout and period of the house we cannot accommodate wheelchair users and the infirm may find negotiating the stairs a problem. St Thomas Street is very peaceful; there is very little passing traffic or people which is extraordinary considering how close it is to the High Street. Please note the property is arranged over three floors with no stair gates. No single sex groups except by prior arrangement. Check out is 10am prompt for the cleaners to arrive.
