The Cow Shed Moieciu
Traditional and delightful living only 150 m from a private stream and surrounded by mountains. Only 30 min by bus or car to Brasov City. Enjoy the Romanian summer in the mountains and nature, or explore the forest on touring skis in the winter. Our land is very large and offers many hiding spots and beautiful places. Sunny all day. The Cow Shed is tastefully decorated with personal style, hand carved furniture, antique furniture, hand painted walls in traditional style, carpets, bed covers and wall decor some older than 150years old, gathered from our family. Perfect wintersport area; from skitouring in the woods around the house, to skiing and sledging the open hills and resorts, to more serious ski expeditions with acredited guides. Climbing from sport to big wall and winter alpine are all possible within a short distance. Perfectly situated for some of the most famous mountain biking trails in Transylvania, and that end at our front door. Sheets and towels are included. This is a Romanian mountain cabin in the countryside. If you want the city 'feel', this is not the place for you. We don't mind a celebration but the cow shed is not for boisterous partying. It's situated in a beautiful natural area, with neighbours farming and living a traditional Transylvanian family Life, that we dont want to disturb. We have the advantage of being close 1.5km to Bran(Dracula's) Castle, a special view of the castle can be gained from the top of our hill. The Piatra Craiului massif is the view fem the back of the house. Large windows maximise the view of the Romanian pine forests and alpine ridges. The Postavaru and Piatra Mare massifs can all be seen from the house, a short walk up the hill and you'll see the "dark side" of Bucegi mountains. All frontiers of extreme and exploration skiing. Our home is wheelchair friendly but there are three small steps up to the front door, and we'll find way to help with some planks. The forrest contains both mushrooms and berries if you know what you're doing looking for. During the season there is also our own raspberries, plums and apples, wild cherries, pears, "corcodușe". We will be in the same house, but living upstairs on the top floor to give you your space and privacy. We will gladly show you how everything works in and around the house and can give you recommendations on places to see and visit during your stay. We can also help you arrange excursions or book activities with accredited guides that are trusted friends and ski mountain bike partners. Some of our neighbours are keen to be involved, and we through them we can give a taste of Transylvanian traditional farming. When we first moved here, we didn't know anybody, however in a short period of time, the people here made us feel very welcome and happy, gave us help when we needed it and showed us the places, traditions, kindness and hospitality, that Transilvania is known for. Because we live so close to Bran Castle (1.5km) you can actually walk. If not there are buses that can take you. It's only 2lei. To go visit Brașov, the old city, you can take the bus, it's only 8lei and it takes 45min. A good place to also visit is Râșnov Fortress or Dino Park, with the same bus you can get there in about 30min, it costs about 5lei. A hire car is another good option, we've a good reliable contact for this. From Bucharest, you've the option of a beautiful train journey or a fast cheap coach service, and more details on request. We built this house according to strict ecological standards, with triple-insulated windows, serious insulation and a smart thermostat. We have renovated the house by reusing all the original materials, in particular wood, in order to keep the house as environmentally friendly and authentic as possible. The exposed beams and the structure of the house are made of reused barn wood, some of which ensure our neighbors over 100 years. We only used local workers to help, but above all we renewed ourselves, and until our baby arrived 2 years ago, since then, it's mainly dad who does the job :) We have a wild part in the garden - this is to attract deer, wild boar, bees and butterflies. Bears and Wolves keep their distance thanks to our friendly German Shepherd, Brunhlda Von Kronstader 1. If you let us know about the farm products you'd like - soft cheese, smoked ham, jam, pickles, etc. We can put you in touch with our trusted producers. This is an advantage because we know what is good here and what is not. So we will make sure we get the best organic and tasty products. We expect our guests to love the home as much as we do. People who appreciate traditional culture and nature will make the most of their experience here. We want to keep the price accessible so as not to charge a cleaning fee, within reasonable use. Going back to past ages, visit a traditional Romanian family with cattle and sheep, chickens, pigs and horses, experience how to milk a cow, make cheese, ride a horse and carriage and make "ţuică" the traditional drink. You can take local products home
