The small and picturesque village of Detling is found on the slope of the North Downs, just northeast of Maidstone, and on the Pilgrims' Way - ideal if you're looking for a break only a short distance away from London. In the Summer months enjoy access to your own exclusively used heated swimming pool (available from 1st June - 31st August) This charming, 1 bedroom detached property is oak framed and weather boarded in a traditional style. This exterior conceals an ultra modern interior which was inspired by the owner's experience of a stunning property they stayed at in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales in Australia. Upon their return, they decided to build 'Vinyard View' and have created a real gem in the heart of the countryside. It is surrounded by trees and open space, overlooking the heated swimming pool (heated to 76 degrees) within a gated complex adjacent to the owners house (exclusive use of the pool for occupants from 1st June-31st August). It's the ultimate couple retreat for a country getaway, due to the number of very desirable features including the summer use of the open-air heated swimming pool, a hot tub (available all year round), state-of-the-art shower cubicle/steam cabinet and home cinema (Freeview and DVD player, films not provided). Inside the property, notable details include underfloor heating, an impressive range of lighting options, privacy-affording living area window and height adjustable, pneumatically operated "bucket" dining seats. You really can't ask for more! One bedroom: 1 x double with balcony approached by steep open plan staircase and open plan landing (unsuitable for infants & young children) with views over the pool complex, surrounding countryside and wooded area of the owners garden. Ground floor shower room with shower cubicle/steam cabinet incorporating various programmable shower options - impulse jets. Open plan living area, with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Conservatory with access to the wooded area of the garden. (Please note during the current pandemic access to the owners garden will be restricted) Outside hot tub available all year round and access to the exclusive use heated swimming pool from 1st June-31st August. We live on the same site as the property however limited interaction with guests - we are available until between 8-9pm (unless an emergency) MAIDSTONE Rochester 9 miles; Canterbury 20 miles Kent's county town, Maidstone, lies at the heart of the Garden of England. Here orchards and hop gardens surround quaint villages and must-see heritage sights. In Maidstone visitors can indulge in a morning of retail therapy exploring the shops at Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre, before enjoying a cultured afternoon at Maidstone Museum & Bentlif Art Gallery. A popular place to visit is The Archbishop’s Palace, a 14th century building on the banks of the River Medway. Speaking of the river, why not climb aboard the Kentish Lady for a scenic cruise through the Maidstone Millennium River Park? Once you reach the Kent Life Museum, you can gain a fascinating insight into Kent’s rural history in bygone times, whilst an interesting day out can also be had examining the elaborate sleighs, sedan chairs and horse-drawn vehicles of the Tyrwhitt-Drake Museum of Carriages. Although Maidstone is a thriving town full of restaurants, pubs and theatres, it’s surrounded by stunning countryside. You can indulge in afternoon tea in a pretty tea room or enjoy a pint of local ale in one of the many pubs in the picturesque villages of Lenham, Marden, Headcorn and Yalding, all scattered around this beautiful county. Walk or cycle the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or venture south to Dover, for a trip across the channel, or stop off at the National Trust property Stoneacre. A visit to this part of Kent would not be complete without a day exploring Leeds Castle, said to be the loveliest castle in the world. Once home to Henry VIII’s first wife, Catherine of Aragon, its opulent rooms reveal stories of English royalty throughout the ages, whilst its glittering lake, 500 acres of glorious parkland and fun maze are great fun to explore.
