You can of course rent a car, a scooter or a bike from the city centre and explore the hidden treasures of our gulf such as: Elafonisos: Its just a 10 minute ferry ride to Elafonisos (price 1euro/person) from the port of Pounta wich is located 15 km from Neapoli. In this small island you will find the magical and world famous Simos beach as well as the picturesque town center for your evening walk and dinning. Pavlopetri: Right next to the small port of Pounta you can find the 5km long Pounta beach. Apart from its magnificent tirquoise waters and golden sand you can explore one of the most ancient underwater city ruins in the world, Pavlopetri. It is about 5,000 years old, making it one of the oldest submerged lost cities, as well as the oldest in the Mediterranean sea Kastania Cave: About 11km from Neapoli, One of the most impressive caves of Greece can be found near the village of Kastania. Among the numerous attractions of the cave are geological rarities such as discs, flat stalagmites, eccentrites and elictites. Monemvasia: If you travel a bit furhter for about 50 mins (39km) you can find Monemvasia. The famous city with the medieval fortress on "the rock" as they call it and the Byzantine churches. It is worth going on a day trip there, try the local food, walk arround the fortress and explore for yourself. Kythira (Cythera) and Antikythera: From the port of Neapoli (10 min walk from the house) you can get the ferry to the magical islands of Kythira and Antikythera. The well known Antikythera mechanism was found there and is as amazing as the nature, forests and beaches that surrond them. It is well worth spending a couple of days there. There are lots of activities you can do in Neapoli and nearby. Feel free to ask if you would like extra info and I would be very happy to help.
