The house with traditional features and looks out onto lawns and trees. It is situated on a hillside with charming views of the village, which is a 5 minute walk away. The abbey church is the principle feature of Lonlay L’Abbaye, together with its picturesque small river. It the pilgrim route to Mont St. Michel. The village has a well-stocked mini market, restaurant, café, bakery, butcher, pharmacy, hairdresser, post office and doctor’s surgery. The Cedar Room with its en-suite bathroom is situated at mezzanine level. It looks out onto our majestic cedar tree. Breakfast is served in the dining room. Guests have use of the large living room as well as the conservatory with its views. A large basement/garage reached from the drive is suitable for securely parking bicycles and motorbikes. There is plenty of parking space for cars on the drive. Guests are welcome to enjoy the surrounding grounds and garden furniture is available. The conservatory is provided with a kettle, fridge and microwave, as well as tea, coffee, sugar, crockery and cutlery. The village has a well-stocked mini market, restaurant, café, bakery, butcher, pharmacy, hairdresser, post office and doctor’s surgery. Lonlay L'Abbaye is 10 minutes by car from the medieval town of Domfront and 25 minutes from the market down of Flers with its Château and train station. In the Village Visit the charming 11th century abbey church and the traditional old cider press nearby. Le Relais de L’Abbaye restaurant is popular for lunch and has good reviews. Tours around La Biscuiterie de L’Abbaye are popular and it has a shop selling local produce, including biscuits, beer, cider and speciality ice creams from La Ferme Bidard. You can also go on a tour around Le Château de la Bière, the organic brewery. Locality Lonlay L’Abbaye is situated in the Normandy-Maine Regional National Park. There are many walking opportunities and leaflets giving schedules of guided walks can be obtained from tourist offices. Domfront is on several Voies Vertes (Greenways or cycle routes). La Route du Poiré is a popular walk starting near Flers. Lonlay L’Abbaye is on the pilgrim route to Mont St. Michel. La Fosse Arthour (10 minutes by car) has beautiful lakeside walks, rock climbing, and many picnic areas by the river. Ger (10 minutes by car) has La Musée de la Poterie Normande, a pottery museum. Domfront (10 minutes by car), with its medieval quarter and castle ruins, is well worth a visit. Flers (25 minutes by car). The Château de Flers is set in a large park and houses a museum. In summer various events take place in the town on Sundays. Bagnoles de L’Orne (30 minutes by car) is a picturesque town with a lot going on. It has many attractions, including a spa, concerts, exhibitions, theatre, a lakeside casino and café, as well as guided walks and archery. Falaise (55 minutes by car) has William the Conqueror’s castle. Nearby is the site of the decisive Battle of the Falaise Pocket (August 1944). Market day in Domfront is on Friday, and in Flers on Wednesday and Saturday.
