Traditional Weavers Cottage near Hebden Bridge
A traditional weavers cottage in the hill top village of Midgley overlooking the Calder Valley. An ideal location for hill walking, fell running, cycling or just relaxing in a beautiful setting. A short walk away from Midgley Moor with it's historic standing stones and burial chambers, or a short distance from Hebden Bridge with it's independent shops, cafe's and restaurants. Ideal for a weekend away in a traditional Yorkshire Stone cottage with mullion windows. Well behaved dog welcome. 66 Towngate is a cosy cottage with central heating throughout. The house is practical and comfortable. A fully equipped kitchen with 4 plate electric hob and a full size oven. There is an electric kettle, a microwave and all the utensils and kitchenware you will need to just heat up or cook a meal. We have good WIFI and also a TV with integrated DVD player. Some DVDs are provided; or you are welcome to use my Netflix account. The bathroom has a shower, small sink and toilet. There is a standard double bed in the bedroom with individual duvets. An electric blanket is provided for those cold Yorkshire nights. The annex room has a writing desk, hairdryer and lovely views over the valley. Both this room and the bedroom have blinds and curtains. There is plenty of space for your clothes and belongings in the wall cupboards. The views are absolutely stunning and although the cottage is just below the moor, access to Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd is very good. The whole property is available for guests. Also a lockable stone built outbuilding across the road (the old toilet) is there to keep pushbikes and larger items secure. I live in the village of Luddenden and can be at Towngate within 5 minutes if I am at home. I am always happy to help with any questions or problems. Midgley is a small hilltop village. The people are very friendly. You will meet the locals, dog walkers, mountainbikers and horse riders. The local shop is run by very helpful volunteers from the area. Next to the shop is the community room which is open at times for tea and cake or an evening talk or quizz. Towngate is close to the bus turning circle. A 20 min walk will get you down the hill into Mytholmroyd. You can catch a bus to Hebden Bridge and further or into the other direction into Halifax. There is also a train station with trains going to Leeds or Manchester. At this moment, the check out/in times are different to my usual times. I am leaving the space for a recommended time after guests leave and then go in with gloves, mask and all the relevant cleaning equipment to make the space as safe as I possibly can for you. I am aware of cross contamination and will get all 'dirty' out, change my PPE, before setting up the space for you. All hard surfaces, light switches, door handles etc will be disinfected. So will be the sofa and the mattress. I always put two pillow cases on each pillow ( they both get changed at all times ), the mattress has a protector and sheet on it. All blankets and rugs will be washed after every visitor. All crockery and cutlery will be washed by me. There is tea, coffee and a few other things there for you to use if you like. I always provide milk and butter just for your use and there will be bread in the freezer.
