Downstairs double room in a spacious village home.

The downstairs bedroom is part of an extension to the family home created when the property was renovated . The room is off the main hallway, near the front door. It contains a single day bed that can be extended into a comfortable double. There is storage and hooks for clothing, a desk and a TV. The family bathroom with bath and shower is along the hallway. Alternatively there is a shower room upstairs. These rooms are shared by others - teenage children downstairs and other guests upstairs. Our house is an extended and renovated property overlooking the local recreation park, with a large drive and plenty of parking. We have a large family kitchen/dining room which guests are welcome to use. We have a large family lounge which is usually only used by us. The lounge overlooks the back garden which has various places to sit and relax or eat. Guests are more than welcome to access and spend time in the garden. We are a smoke free home and only accept booking from non smokers. There are two other rooms within the property that are listed on Air BNB so you are likely to meet other guests who may be staying. Please see info above. Breakfast is served in the kitchen/dining room. Guests are welcome to help themselves to the kitchen facilities to make themselves a hot drink or even warm up/cook themselves an evening meal. We are a busy family of four. There are six of us but the two older children are at Uni. As this is the spare room you may get to meet just four of us or maybe all six depending on whether it is term time or not. As a family we are are used to welcoming visitors/guests to our home whether it be family, friends or students. We like to socialise with our guests and get to know them but also accept that you may want to retreat to your room. There are two other rooms within the property that are listed on Air BNB so you are likely to meet other guests who may be staying. Covid has made hosting more challenging however please know that you are welcome to join us in the kitchen/dining room anytime. Common sense, social distancing and general hygiene rules to be applied! We are keen to make your stay an enjoyable one so if you would like to know anything about the local area or have a request to make your stay more comfortable, please ask. Similarly if you require anything in addition to what is available or you require help in any way please do not hesitate to ask. Harwell is a rural village with a mix of properties both old and new. The village has a shop, butchers and a pub, as well as a church, village hall and social club (Harwellian). Everything within the village is walk able with the pub and shop being furthest from our house, about 10 minutes away (on foot). Opposite our house is the Recreation Ground with a play park, outdoor 'keep fit' equipment (suitable for use by adults) and two large fields/areas of grass. A Fish & Chip van and also a wood fired Pizza van come to the village (in the car park of the Village Hall) once a week on a Wednesday and Thursday respectively. If you are looking for larger shops or other places to eat there are some facilities a 5 minute drive away at GWP or 10 minutes away in Didcot We are close to Harwell Campus which is a 5 minute drive away, 10 minutes (max) by bus and about a 20/30 minute walk (dependent on where on campus you are heading for). Didcot train station is a 10 minute drive by car or a 15 to 20 minute journey on the bus. As with most bus services they are less frequent on weekends and after 5pm so please be aware of this. We are flexible with check in/out times beyond those listed. However we would appreciate a rough idea of intended check in/out times so that we can ensure someone is here to welcome you. As you will appreciate we usually work during the week and so sometimes it may be necessary to ask if you are able to check in/out earlier/later than the time stated on the listing. This is dependent on work/family commitments, hence the request for information about your stay.
