Lake View Cottage at the Source of The Nile

The property is situated in Bukaya on the western shores of the Source of the Nile about a 20-minute-drive to Jinja City. A beautiful, cosy little cottage on the slopes of the source of the Nile with romantic views onto the lake. The main house has the charm of a modern open studio set up with a combined kitchen/dining/living area opening up onto a terrace stretching the entire front of the building. Magnificent views of Lake Victoria bless the terrace with an additional relaxing factor. The interior of the main house features the master bedroom with an oversize double bed and a further single room with a functional work space. The house is fully furnished providing everything you and your friends/family might need for a weekend getaway. The guest wing features one available double bedroom with its own bathroom (including a shower). All in all the beds comfortably sleep 5 people. Extra mattresses can be arranged on request and the compound acts as camp space should an arrangement be made with a bigger group. The property is situated on a light slope creating good vision of Lake Vitoria from the terrace but enough privacy in the garden. The house is surrounded by plenty of green featuring its own little fruit and veggie garden managed by our caretakers. If the season's right you might just be able to pluck a few bananas, mangoes or oranges, right out of the garden. Guests have access to the entire compound throughout their stay. The garden is free to use for games, activities or even a BBQ with facilities provided by our outdoor kitchen which is fitted with a movable grill. Our caretakers, Alfred is always ready to help our guests and know the area very well and is more than happy to grab a few things from the market for you or even bring some things back for you on their way back from the city. A responsible managing person is always available to answer any questions and provide any information you may need. Bukaya is a little town on the Western side of the river in close proximity to the Source of the Nile. It is a lively little community with little shops, local bars and entertainment surrounded by residential houses. Bukaya's surrounding area can be characterised by mostly agricultural land with many private farming properties. A perfect place for quiet village walks, exploring the markets and shops, or having a meal at one of the hotels in the area. Beautiful views of the Source of the Nile can be seen from both the cottage and the hotels in Bukaya. Getting around in Uganda is generally no tricky task. Bicycles, Boda Bodas, Minibuses and Taxis are all common means of getting around in Jinja in addition , of course, to your private transport. Bukaya is easy to reach from Kampala as well as from Jinja. Heading off the main road just before the bridge at Nile Breweries, Nalubale road leads you all the way to the heart of Bukaya. Jinja and its surroundings are an exciting area for adventurists and explorers providing some of the most exciting activities in the country. From Bukaya the easiest way to get around is by Boda Boda. For a small fee you can be in the city in about 15 minutes. Parking for your vehicles is provided on our property. Jinja is easily accessible via the main bridge by car or by public means. The city provides all the necessities in terms of shopping, restaurants, bars and cafes. There's surely a bar or two you'd like to check out too.
