Things to consider before you book: **The facilities include a compost loo and an outdoor hot gas powered shower. Both are very straight forward to use and will be explained on arrival. You can see the facilities in the pictures above. If showering in a woodland setting appeals to you, you're in for a winner! **There is no electricity in the bell tent. Battery operated fairy lights are supplied as per pictures and refilled/charged for every stay. We also supply a fully charged power pack that can charge your phone through a USB cable. You have access to mains electricity should you need it in the reception area at the main entrance to our property about 50m from your bell tent (including mirror and sockets for any hair drying you may need to do). A cool box with frozen water bottles is supplied, this is an effective fridge inside the tent but you also have access to a freezer and a fridge in the reception area. **The tent is fully stocked in terms of kitchen and cooking facilities, however the cooking experience may be more on the wild side when compared to what you are used to. The wood burning stove inside the tent is designed so cooking on top of it is possible. Perfect for the cooler months or days, but you may not wish to have the stove fully ramped in the summer... In which case we recommend taking advantage of the firepit and dutch oven. Outdoor, wild cooking! **We also run a bunkhouse on site, about 50 meters away from the tent. If you are concerned about noise transfer feel free to message us to check bookings for the bunkhouse before booking. There is the chance we may have a fairly large group staying (the bunkhouse can sleep 18 although groups aren't usually that large), especially during the summer holiday months. The areas are completely separate, they have their own garden and firepit area, but there can be some noise transfer especially on a warm summers evening. Although in most cases this didn't seem to cause a problem last summer it is worth mentioning. You are secluded in the woods in a private setting and bunkhouse guests are told not to enter the bell tent area. Larger groups tend to only use the bunkhouse at weekends but please feel free to contact before booking if you think a bunkhouse booking could affect your stay. **Finally, we ask guests not to venture too far into the woodland off the beaten track. The ground underfoot is extremely boggy. We can recommend a woodland walk for you, and other walks in the area. We are available by phone if you have any issues during your stay and will come down to help if needs be. We will not be disturbing you during your stay, only if called. This is your secluded, isolated, serene break in the magic of the woods! We live in rural Northumberland, about 1 mile from the village of Ellingham. Ellingham has a great and truly country pub called The Pack Horse Inn (open 17th May). Up the hill from us is Preston Tower. A Peel tower from which you get panoramic views of the countryside. There are many walks in the area, including a mile long woodland walk opposite the main house. 5 miles give or take to the coast including Beadnell, Embleton, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Craster, Newton... The list goes on. All of which have great shops, cafes, tourist attractions includng boat trips and pubs. Again, if there is something you particularly want to do we recommend contacting the provider to check when they are open. Other attractions just a tiny bit further away including Alnwick Gardens and Castle, Barter books and Holy Island. If you would like to just come and chill in the tent to get away from everything and everyone, that's ok too! Car and bike are the easiest options.
