A fantastic, well-equipped, dog-friendly, 3*Gold Visit England rated self-catering cottage on the east Lincolnshire coast. A tranquil location to relax and unwind and a perfect base to explore this beautiful coast. Just a few minutes walk from a stunning expanse of sandy beach it is the ideal place for dogs and their owners to enjoy miles of beach walks. The garden is completely dog-safe and we provide some outdoor games for children and grown-ups to make the most of the fabulous outdoor space. Dunes Cottage is a single storey cottage that originated as outbuildings for the brickpit which was in a nearby field (long since filled in with sand). It is a lovely cottage that has a very welcoming and cosy feel to it. We have recently done some renovation work and redecorating creating a trully lovely space. The cottage has two bedrooms - one double and one twin. Parents of small children please be aware that these bedrooms are situated at opposite ends of the cottage. The double bedroom is sited at the far end of the cottage near the family bathroom and the twin bedroom is accessed from the hallway as you come in to the cottage. This layout actually suits lots of people really well as it increases the privacy of the sleeping accomodation. The living room has an electric fire, TV, DVD player and CD player and digital radio and overlooks the completely enclosed private garden. A seperate dining room now has patio doors leading out to the garden at the front which hopefully guests with find a bonus in the summer months with the outdoor space more easily accessible from the cottage. The large kitchen is very well-equipped with washer, fridge-freezer, electric cooker, microwave and all crockery, glassware, pans and cooking utensils. We really do go the extra mile to ensure that you have to hand all the kitchen bits and bobs that you take for granted at home - aiming to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible. There is also a breakfast bar with high stools ideal for social kitchen time! The spacious family bathroom has a bath with a shower over. To the rear of the cottage there is an enclosed patio area with table and chairs and also a raised area with a table and two chairs which is perfect for a cup of coffee in the morning sunshine. All bedding, linen and towels are provided. There is a flat-screen TV, a DVD player and a CD player and digital radio. Also we have Wifi at no extra charge and a selection of DVDs, books and games. For those warm afternoons and evenings we supply a BBQ and a bag of charcoal as well as sun loungers and a some outdoor games.. as well of course as buckets and spades for the daily trip to the beach! Dogs are very welcome but please do mention when booking that you are bringing furry friends with you. The whole cottage is your's for holidaying. There is a large garden with a circular gravel drive which has fences or walls on all sides and is secured by a gate leading from a single track road. Both the cottage and the garden are completely private. We live close by so if you would like to know anything about the area please just ask. We will not enter the cottage unless you need us, but if you do we can soon pop over. If you are after a relaxing getaway then we have it! Long lazy days relaxing indoors and in the garden, long walks on the beach, exploring the Nature Reserve, going on day trips - whatever your idea of a relaxing holiday the Dunes Cottage is a great place to do it. The cottage is located down a single track road that leads from the main Mablethorpe to Grimsby road to the beach, and the area is popular with dog-walkers. Turn left out of the gate and you will very soon find yourself at the beach. The best thing is it's really quiet here! A car or bike is essential for holidaying here. Although, saying that we have had guests who bring supplies for the week and then abandon the car in favour of a week travelling only on foot - and this place is perfect for that (and the big fridge-freezer means it is very possible!!). We do provide lots of information booklets and leaflet on places to go, places to eat, takeaways, walks and cycle routes as well as a little bit of local history. We are always pleased to direct you to places that we think might be of interest to you. Mablethorpe is roughly a 3 mile walk along the beach or a 5 mile drive (though there is always the option of walking there and taxi back - which is kind of the best of both!), slightly further south and you will come to the golden beaches of Sutton-on-Sea, then Sandilands (if you get here you must pop into the Fat Seagull cafe for a coffee and a piece of cake!), and then Huttoft (the Car Terrace is a great place to eat fish and chips in the car and watch the sea!) and Anderby Creek (check out the Cloud Observatory and have a cuppa in the cafe) . If you visit in November or December a trip to see the seals at Donna Nook is essential. It is a spectular place to see at this time of year when thousands of seals come ashore to have their pups and the volunteer wardens on site are always happy to answer questions on the seals. At anytime of year the Lincolnshire Wolds which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are a beautiful place to visit and are a haven for walkers and cyclists and the more energetic explorers (anyone who says that Lincolnshire is flat has never been here!) 20 mins or so by car will get you to Alford where you will find the Manor House and Alford Craft Market shop, or also to Louth which is a bustling market town with award-winning butchers and cheese shops and a regular Farmers' Market where you can sample local produce. Skegness and Cleethorpes are roughly 45 minute drives away - one south, one north and you will find plenty of traditional seaside town activities here as well as some lovely tourist attractions. To get to Lincoln you are looking at about an hour's drive but with the Castle and Cathedral and the beautiful area of Steep Hill to explore it is well worth planning a day trip. Please note that we are located in a rural area. Some fields in the surrounding area are agricultural land and some are used for grazing cows, sheep and horses. We have no control over the management and workings of the land, therefore at certain times there may be harvesting / ploughing / seed-drilling which may create a slightly less tranquil noise level for an hour or so. Personally, I love to watch the combines as does my daughter!
