Kingfisher Cottage; Enchanting Modern Country life
Kingfisher Cottage is an enchanting but modern 3 bedroom cottage situated in the quiet village of Lowick in North Northumberland. The Cottage has recently been renovated. A spacious family living with a wood-burning stove and dining space and a large kitchen with breakfast bar occupy the ground floor. You will find 3 spacious bedrooms and a bathroom (shower in bath) on the first floor. There is off-road parking to the front and a well proportioned private garden with a patio and spacious grass area to the rear of the cottage, with seating facilities. Our guests have exclusive access to the whole property. The garage is also used by the owner for storage. We leave you to enjoy your stay and operate a self check in / check out system. However, if there are any issues, we are usually around. You will be provided with our personal mobile number and key safe info after booking. At the top of the village, on walking distance, there are the Black Bull Inn and the White Swan Inn, which are both open for food and drinks. There is also a village shop selling local produce, as well as everyday essentials. In the middle of the village is a lovely play park for our younger guests. The cottage is nestled within a remote farming community and is only a short drive from several of the most stunning beaches in Northumberland. There are also many local attractions nearby, such as the Holy Island of Lindisfarne; The historic, border town of Berwick upon Tweed, which has been fought over by the Scots and English for centuries; And Alnwick, home of Alnwick Castle and Garden, most famously known for where the titles of Blackadder and in more recent years the Harry Potter movies were filmed. The area is also favourable amongst walkers and pilgrims, who come to conquer St Cuthbert’s Way, a route thought to have been walked by Cuthbert, the patron saint of Northern England, through the cheviot hills from Melrose to Lindisfarne; Or to visit his resting place at St Cuthbert’s Cave near Belford. For guests who favour the buzz of the city Edinburgh is less than an hour away by train from Berwick upon Tweed railway station, or can be accessed by car via the A1. If you visit during August you will be treated to the spectacle of the Fringe Festival. Or, if you head South, you can have an excursion to Newcastle upon Tyne, home of Geordies, Newcastle Brown Ale and the Hoppings funfair, which is situated on the town moor each June. For small children is a travel cot and a high chair available. There are no toilet facilities down stairs. There is a small step up in front of the front door to access the property. Small pets are allowed, but not upstairs or on the furniture and sofas. The Cottage next door (The Nurse's Cottage) can be booked as well and sleeps upto 6 people; https://airbnb.com/h/nurses-cottage
