Charming cottage close to Montreuil sur Mer

The Cow House is a lovely retreat with character and comfort in equal measure. It is suited to families (who will appreciate the play room) and to couples seeking a romantic get away. All on one level there is lots of space - two bedrooms, large lounge, dining room, playroom and of course a kitchen and bathroom. The sunny courtyard garden is perfect for relaxing and outdoor dining. The Cow House has been our much loved second home for the last 18 years. It is full of rustic charm with everything you will need for a relaxing holiday. The very well equipped kitchen and large dining room gives you a chance to enjoy lovely French food and wine in a rustic setting. The flower filled, sunny and secure courtyard garden allows children to play safely in the sandpit while you use the BBQ or relax on the swing seat. Children will also be kept amused in the playroom with a cupboard full of toys and an indoor swing from the ceiling! The large lounge has two huge sofas and is perfect for watching a movie. There are lots of DVDs and games. There is Wifi, a Bluetooth speaker and lots of DVDs, books and board games. There is no TV signal but you can connect a tablet or laptop to the TVs via an Amazon fire stick or HDMi cable to watch via the internet. The master bedroom has kingsize iron bed plus a single day bed with Hypnos mattress. The garden bedroom has two single beds each with a trundle bed underneath. We provide hypoallergenic bedding and towels. There is lots of hot water and central heating in the morning and evening for the cooler months. We include everything in the price. We ask that you leave the cottage clean and tidy as you find it. We ask for a £100 security deposit to cover breakages which is repayable within 7 days of departure. So far we have never had a reason not to return it in full. We welcome small, well behaved dogs but they must not be allowed on the beds or sofas and you must clean up after them. To make sure the house is completely pet free for the next guests there is an additional £20 charge for the extra cleaning. The house is detached with a private garden. We live in London so won't be available in person. But our English speaking caretakers live about 10 miles away if you have any problems during your stay. It's a peaceful retreat in the French countryside but with plenty to do and see in the area. The house is perfect for couples, families and small groups of friends. It is a fantastic place to relax and unwind at any time of year. The village is in the Seven Valleys and has lovely walks, bike trails and a bar. The nearby Opal Coast has glorious sandy beaches, golf courses, a theme park, summer festivals and a brilliant water park. The area has plenty of interesting history: Montreuil-ser-Mer is a fortified town made famous by Victor Hugo and Les Miserables. The battlefield and museum at Agincourt is 20 minutes away. Visit Arras with its huge food market and lovely squares or follow the history of the First World War sites and museums throughout the area. Vimy Ridge is an hour away while the new museums at Ypres or the Somme can be reached within 90 minutes. Paris is just over 2 hours away by car or by TGV from Arras. Ideally you will have a car and there is a private parking space. It is only a few minutes drive to a bakery for your morning croissant. There's a Carrefour supermarket in nearby Hesdin and markets on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in nearby towns. Throughout the summer, every village has a brocante (think village fete plus car boot sale). As our own second home, the Cow House is a lovingly restored property with a high level of comfort and charm. We have packed away our personal belongings but have left things that you would not normally find in a holiday cottage, including books, games and toys. The kitchen is so well equipped that we have cooked Christmas lunch for 10 with ease. This is a family home with lots of toys and equipment for children. There is a cot, a high chair, a changing mat, kids crockery, books and toys, If you don't have children please don't worry as there is lots of very comfortable grown up space without a toy in sight!
