Located on 66 acres of rolling farmland and wooded countryside, this restored, 19th century log cabin is rustic but not the least bit primitive. A massive stone fireplace makes relaxing in the winter cozy. Enjoy your morning coffee along with a beautiful view of Ohio farmland from the screened-in porch. Jump into the outdoor shower or hot tub after a day of hiking or shopping in nearby Yellow Springs. Centrally located, the Cabin is just 20 minutes from Dayton and 50 minutes from Columbus. This 19th century log cabin - original to the property - was dismantled and restored in 1989. Various updates over the years keep the Cabin fresh without compromising its rustic qualities. The Cabin is located on a working farm. Guests may walk the property, enjoy the hot tub located a few yards from the Cabin and fish in the catch-and-release pond. There is a charcoal grill and charcoal provided for outside cooking, an outdoor shower, and a fire pit nearby is a fun place to roast marshmallows and tell stories. Two bicycles on site are available for guests who want to ride the Ohio to Erie bike trail, which is just a mile from the farm entrance. It is my practice to leave guests alone while they enjoy the Cabin. However, my husband, Glen, and I live a couple hundred yards from the cabin and I am always available by text or phone to stop by if guests want to chat or need assistance. Since it is located on a working farm, occasionally someone will be working on the property. But we will try to let guests know this in advance and steer clear unless invited up the hill to the Cabin. Closest neighbors are about 1/4 mile away but you would never know it; the Cabin is quite secluded. The property is about 11 miles from Yellow Springs, 10 miles from Springfield, seven miles from Cedarville, five miles from South Charleston, and the Ohio to Erie bikeway is just a mile down the road. Seasoned bicyclists can use their own bikes — or borrow the two that we keep on site — and jump on the Ohio to Erie Trail and bike anywhere. For the rest of us, I recommend an automobile. The Cabin is a homey, comfortable place — nothing fussy, nothing untouchable. We expect you to put your feet up, take a deep breath and relax while you’re there.
