Retreat to this remote fully-renovated 1930s lakeside summer home. Perfect for work/play/sabbatical. Original details—stone fireplace, fir floors, French doors, 1930s hardware & modern essentials—electricity, plumbing, appliances, central air, heat & WiFi. Relax in the ever-changing landscape of water, light, trees and wildlife. Bring your own boats or rent. Tie up to your dedicated dock or buoy. Shared fishing dock & swim float. County rules allow 30-day rentals. Walk over the marsh bridge and onto the island—step into another quality of time. With no vehicles and just a handful of cottages on the island, you'll have the opportunity to retreat from the pressures of everyday life. The house layout offers privacy to multiple families, with north and south wings. A mix of queen and twin beds offer flexibility for your group’s configuration. All bedrooms offer new mattresses, ample closet space, screened windows and a ceiling fan. Bathrooms on each wing of the house. One has a generous bathtub. Basement lounge offers a kid hangout. The exterior areas between the house and the adjacent boathouse are communal. The south side of the house and the south dock are for your use, while the entire boathouse and north jetty are for the owners. We’re eager to make your stay a success. We work summer days onsite in the boathouse next door. Our boys go to day camp most weekdays during the summer. During the fall and winter, we're a phone call away. The surrounding community is a sparsely populated group of century-old cabins, encircled by miles of wooded community trails. The shoreline faces the lake to the east, and the house sits feet from the stone retaining wall. Numerous vantages let you take in the ever-changing sky and water. Our favorite grocery is Save More. Round trip, it takes 20/25 minutes to grab a few essentials. If this is the house for you, we can share hints on our favorite spots for provisions, walking and paddling trails. Those with an organic focus can find well stocked shelves and surprising fresh variety within 30/35 min round trip. The house is situated on an island, connected by an elevated boardwalk across a pristine marsh—a bird lover’s paradise. The short stretch lands on a pine tree lined path. The entire distance is a 3-4 minute walk or guests can choose to use the house’s golf cart.
