Beautiful Grade II Listed 18th Century Thatched Cottage. Our cosy and idyllic cottage is on the border of Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, 9 miles from the historic city of Cambridge in the stunning rural village of Melbourn. With parking, high speed WiFi and a full sky package all included this is perfect for a countryside getaway or professional working retreat. A stone's throw from Melbourn Science Park where AstraZeneca is located and close to Johnson Matthey or Addenbrookes. NEW LISTING TO AIR BnB - DECEMBER 2020 Our cosy Grade II listed thatched cottage dates back to the 18th century. The roof underwent a re-thatch in November 2020. Our cottage comprises of a characteristic, rustic kitchen with a full range of appliances including a classic range oven, integrated dishwasher, integrated washer dryer and traditional Butler sink. The kitchen is also equipped with all cutlery, utensils and tableware required to cook and dine comfortably in. The lounge is homely with beautiful original beams running through into a large fireplace with a coal effect fire that heats the room quickly. We have a full Sky package with Sky sports and movies included as well as Netflix all available to watch from the comfort of the sofa. The lounge also has a small, tidy area by the window with a table and chairs, ideal for a sit-down meal or sitting up and getting some work done. Our large double bedroom is rich with character as the original beams run through and has comfortable double bed sitting in front of charming feature wall with chimney breast. The bathroom was renovated at the start of December 2020 to install a new shower, bath, basin and toilet with new flooring and décor to a traditional Victorian theme. The bathroom flows into a spacious walk in wardrobe all completely accessible to guests. We share a pretty and well kept garden with our neighbours which is wonderful to sit and enjoy a nice day or evening in peace and quiet. Guests will have access to the entire property including all rooms. You will also have access to the communal gardens however we ask that you keep generally to the area directly in front of 3 Sheepshead Row. There is one parking space which will be clearly signalled. I live in the village so I can attend the cottage if required however I will not unless requested. We are situated in the beautiful rural village of Melbourn. The village is quiet and historical, bordering another small village called Meldreth with the river Mel running through it. Melbourn has two pubs, The Dolphin and The Black Horse, both within a 10-minute walk of the cottage. There is a Premier and Coop for convenience shops also within a 10-minute walk away. Hot Numbers café is a 15-minute walk however we do recommend trying this out particularly if you appreciate good coffee. The village also has one fine dining restaurant called The Sheene Mill which is also reachable within a 10-minute walk. Melbourn is perfect for easy travel to Cambridge, Royston or London via driving on the A10 or via train with Meldreth train station located a 15-minute walk away. The cottage is also literally across the road from Melbourn Science Park which includes AstraZeneca.
