Peaceful Farmhouse|Coastal Walks|Seals & Wildlife
Surrounded by farmland and conveniently located close to the coast, Holme Farm is a period Lincolnshire farmhouse that has been carefully renovated in recent years. A perfect place to unwind and relax and explore this undiscovered part of Lincolnshire with its wide beaches, nature reserves, historic market towns and quiet unspoiled countryside. We offer you a comfortable holiday home with additional sleeping and outside barn space for snooker and table tennis for all the family to enjoy. Comfortable, modernised farmhouse with two sitting areas, a large dining area and fully equipped kitchen sleeping up-to seven adults. Additional sleeping for 4 in the historic “showman’s wagon” located in the adjacent barns. Travel cot/high chair and put-me-up bed are available on request. Large, private outside space for all the family to enjoy. A great place to relax and unwind with the addition of a barn with snooker and table tennis, BBQ and undercover dining area to make the most of the tranquil rural surroundings. Holme Farmhouse is entirely yours for the length of your stay. Outside there is a large lawned area at the front and open space to the side and rear. In the barns we have opened up a play space with snooker and table tennis and also a quirky covered bar/eating area for you to enjoy your BBQ. Access to the property is secured by a lockable gate and beyond the gate the track continues into our private farmland to which you are welcome to walk along. Edward and Liz live at New Farm which is a field away and you are welcome to walk along the grass path behind the barns and knock on our door if you need any further information. We will always call by at the beginning of your stay to welcome you and to say hello. We also host The Garden Room, another Airbnb at New Farm. Please note: Willow Tree House with the pond and barns on the left as you drive to Holme Farm is our neighbour’s private residence. This is an undiscovered and quiet part of the Lincolnshire coast although not far from the coastal resorts and sandy beaches of Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe/Sutton. The Humber Estuary is internationally renowned for its abundant wildlife and habitat for over-wintering birds. In October and November seals come ashore to have their pups on the shoreline at Donna Nook and this has become a popular local visitor attraction to see nature at close hand. It does get busy in the height of ‘seal-watching season’ so we have devised a walking route from The Garden Room that takes you along our quiet farm tracks to the coast and back. You won’t meet a soul until you reach Donna Nook car-park! Allow 3.5 hrs. Inland, market towns such as Louth and Horncastle are attractive places to visit with their friendly atmosphere, independent shops and unhurried pace of life. It’s pretty essential that you arrive here by car as public transport is very limited. Local services such as pubs and shops are a five minute drive away and the lovely market town of Louth is a twenty minute drive. The coastal resorts of Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe/Sutton are approximately half an hours drive away. Walking along our farm roads to reach Marshchapel is an easy and level 40 minute stroll. Bring your wellies, it can be a bit muddy! We provide you with complimentary bread, milk, teas and coffee at the beginning of your stay. There are well stocked shops in Grainthorpe and Marshchapel the nearest villages. You should be aware that this is a traditional Lincolnshire farmhouse with low sloping ceilings in bedrooms 3, 4 and the upstairs bathroom. The staircase is steep with narrow treads although we have added a second handrail and safety gates for your little ones. The two sitting rooms are cosy but each suitable for seating 4/5 people comfortably. However the dining kitchen is a large area seating upto 10 people. In the grounds, we provide you with exclusive use of a games room/barn with bar and wood-burning stove which is a great area for family get-togethers.
