Lakeside shepherds hut, rowing boat, wood burner
The Hyde is set in lake-side location in the 3 acre gardens of our Grade II listed, historical home. You have exclusive use of the lake complete with rowing boat and fishing rods. Light the fire, crack open a beer and watch the swallows swoop down to the lake or see if you can spot our resident heron. It is our own little slice of heaven and we know you will love it as much as we do. The Hyde is a perfect getaway for two. Inside you will find a double bed complete with linen bedding, dining table for two and a small kitchenette made up of a sink, double hob and fridge for chilling your wine to the perfect temperature. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools you need to cater for yourself from pots and pans, down to the garlic crusher. There is a wood burning stove inside to make it extra cosy for chillier evenings and the Winter months and built with sheets wool insulation means The Hyde can be used all year round. Outside there is a fire pit, another seating area for two and a bbq. The private bathroom, complete with power shower, is in an adjacent barn just a few seconds walk away. We built The Hyde ourselves and have tried to think of every detail to make your stay special and unique. The icing on the cake, of course, is your very own lake, jetty, rowing boat and fishing rod. Please note that the lake is not suitable for swimming in (perfect for fishing and boating though!) and we ask that dogs are also kept out of the water so as not to disturb the wildlife. The area of garden around The Hyde is for you to enjoy and the remainder of the 3 acre garden is used by our family and our 2 friendly dogs. The parking area is opposite The Hyde across the other side of the lake. We like to leave you to your own devices but are always at the end of a phone / (Hidden by Airbnb) message if there’s anything you need or anything we can help you with. We are on the very edge of the South Downs in a designated ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, surrounded by vineyards. There are many beautiful country walks from the doorstep and the stunning South Downs Way is a short drive away. Brighton is twenty minutes away if you want some action or there are local country pubs a plenty if you are after something more sedate. Our favourite local, The Bolney Stage is a 30 minute walk down the lane and the pretty village of Cuckfield can be reached across the fields in 40 minutes where you will find little independent clothes shops, food shopping, more lovely pubs and the haven of Ockendon Spa. There are also many lovely beaches for an afternoon out within reasonable driving distance.. We are a 15 minute taxi journey from Haywards Heath Station if you are getting public transport. If you are driving, parking is available here on the farm. Whereas it is possible to walk to two of the local pubs either across the fields or down the lane, for ease and to fully make the most of all the area has to offer, it is best if you have your own transport.
