We’ve now been advertising on AirBnB over 4 years now and we work hard to keep our 5 star super host status. Our reviews pretty much speak for themselves. If you're looking for something extra special yet unique and beautiful, you've just found the perfect property! You will not find another home on Airbnb as special and we are proud of that . Yes, we are probably at the higher end of pricing spectrum, but we have much more than the average listing. It’s Laura Ashley meets luxurious and playful touches along with hundreds of years old architecture and features. When you come home to the Barn after a beautiful walk in The Yorkshire moors and feel the underfloor heating on your cold feet, you’ll know you’re in for an array of luxurious surprises, and thats not just from the generous welcome basket! You’ll know you’ve all the mod cons but also some quaint touches such as our custom made dining table that easily seats 10, perfect for large family meal or letting the kids play some of the board games available. We also have a professional trampoline dug into the ground if burning off some energy is more your thing. Or even better let the kids get on the trampoline and let the adults supervise from the hot tub! Our 7/8 seater hot tub is less than 12 months old and we’ve erected a gazebo above it so it’s good to use in all weather. The hours of use of the hot tub are 10am-9pm (10 pm on weekends) .Plastic glasses are provided for outdoor use. We do have a safety booklet with regards to the hot tub, we strongly recommend you read all the advice. We are currently asking guests to sign a disclaimer regarding the hot tub to confirm the rules have been read. Government guidance in relation to hot tubs and Coronavirus is that guests use the facility at their own risk. We take the hygiene of our tub extremely seriously but we also expect guests to be responsible and reasonable with their use of the hot tub, for example misuse of the hot tub resulting in extremely soiled water rendering the hot tub unusable will incur an extra charge (£50) should guests want it refillling due to the call out fee, use of water, power and chemicals. The barn is situation in a small complex, dating back hundreds of years. From most windows you can see the horses galloping in the fields or our large pond area that 3 ducks now call home! For those with an eye for nature, be sure to look for the resident family of kingfishers , a couple of illusive Canada geese , if you hear the odd screech it's our seasonal little owl , a tree creeper and half a dozen wild yet resident mallard . We've also spotted pair of Roe deer on the land out front on the odd occasion. There’s a picnic bench in the communal pond area and an half barrel BBQ and chiminea in our garden too . This would also double as a small fire pit . We have a large tv in our very spacious living room (with Netflix, Disney + etc available) , as well as a piano ... potentially out of tune! The fireplace beam is a 600 year old ships timber full of character and history . The main wall in the living room dates back to the 1500's... intrigued yet? Unbelievably this small complex of Barns was, many moons ago, a working farm. The main house is even mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Most our floors are either solid oak or period stone / limestone, all heated under floor. We have minimal steps on the first floor meaning we have had many families with young babies stay with us, and also some wheelchair users have found our home suitable for their accessibility needs. We have bedrooms with a combination of a king, 3 double, 2 single and a full size cot. We can also provide a travel cot as well as high chairs, baby gates etc; we aim to make your traveling experience as stress free as possible! Two of our bedrooms are downstairs as well as the main house bathroom. The layout works well for a variety of travellers whether it be groups of friends, families of multiple generations or even those with pets. Likewise guests are always amazed by our kitchen. It has an array of gadgets for cooking with, a huge stock or herbs and spices, oil, balsamic vinegar and baking trays, pots and pans. We cater for those who wish to cook every meal and we provide lots of information about the surrounding area should you choose to eat out or get a takeaway. We have an Aldi supermarket less than a mile away and all major supermarkets can do home deliveries to our locality. In the very local vicinity (10 minutes walk) we have 4 fantastic pubs, see brochure in house for details. In the village there is a post office, mini supermarket, Chinese, 2 indian restaurants , pizza and thai restaurant / takeaway, pharmacy and the local hospital is less than a 10 minute drive. Should guests wish to plan an iternery before they stay we are more than willing to help them plan their break, we can provide recommendations on where to eat and drink to places to visit. There are also nice villages around Darton, Mapplewell has some nice pubs, but Cawthorne is an area that has won awards and had a lovely pub (Spencers arms) and a huge park / country home / working farm (Cannon Hall farm see pictures ). Cannon Hall is currently featured on the TV show ‘ This week in the farm’ and ‘Friday in the farm’. It’s roughly a five minute drive from our home, it’s definitely worth a visit to see all the amazing animals. It also has a huge outdoor play area, a restaurant, a shop access to the main Manor House. Please look at their website for further details, Cannon Hall, Barnsley. Other attractions include the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (5 minute away) and the National Coal Mining Museum to name a couple. We are more or less sat on the M1 corridor therefore should you need to go any further there are easily accessible transport links. It seems a lot of guests are meeting centrally in the country for get togethers . But don’t forget this local area has much much more to offer too . Getting here by train could not be easier with London just over 2hours 15 mins away. Darton station is the closest 5 min walk from our house. Barnsley next closest town 5 min taxi £7 ish, Wakefield is £16 in taxi ish and about 15 mins . Sheffield and Leeds a little bit further . Buses run through Darton that also go to Leeds, Wakefield and into Barnsley town. We like to think we have seriously considered the comfort and experience of our guests. We do have many repeat bookings and receive many wonderful comments and feedback about guests thoroughly enjoying their stay here. We would love to host your well earned break after what can only be described as a thoroughly rubbish 12 months!. The kitchen is fully stocked, feel free to use what is there, as in the bathroom. There is basically only one room not accessible (the smallest room in the house). We keep a few of our belongings in . We are available via message most of the time . If you have any queries we’d want you to ask without hesitation. We tend to be in another property on site so all issues can be quickly resolved in person if needed rather than over the phone. Outskirts of Barnsley In the very local vicinity (10 minutes walk) we have 10 fantastic pubs, see brochure in house for details. In the village there is a post office, mini supermarket, Chinese, indian, pizza and thai restaurant / takeaway, pharmacy and the local hospital is less than a 10 minute drive (hopefully you wont need to see the latter). There are also nice villages around Darton, Mapplewell has some nice pubs, but Cawthorne is an area that has won awards and had a lovely pub (Spencers arms) and a huge park / country home / working farm (Cannon Hall). Other attractions include the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (10 minute away) and the National Coal Mining Musuem to name a couple.
