Amberwood, A Beautiful Beach House

This beautiful wooden family beach home is perched on a hillside in a small complex. Nestled amongst the treetops and cooled by sea breezes, it is amply and tastefully furnished for a tranquil, relaxed getaway. The sea views are exceptional and the home is a short walk from the beach. The house is situated in a small complex of privately-owned homes. Guests are invited to make use of the communal pool and braai/BBQ area. The beautiful wooden exterior and interior of the home are bound to charm. It is fully furnished and equipped with a large lounge/TV area (with both TV and DSTV channel network), a large dining area and open-plan kitchen, with separate scullery. Appliances include a stovetop, oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. There are 3 bedrooms with plenty of wardrobe space and 2 full bathrooms (bath, toilet, shower and washbasin). The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed and en-suite bathroom. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms each contain a queen-sized and single bed (i.e. sleep 3 persons each). There are ceiling fans in each of the 3 bedrooms, and 2 in the living area. The extensive wooden deck has spectacular sea views and is furnished with wooden outdoor lounge and dining furniture, and a built-in gas braai/BBQ unit. The deck is bound to become every guests's preferred place to relax and unwind, serenaded by the glorious sound of the ocean. Guests have full access to the house and communal facilities within the complex. To get to the beach, 2 pathways are located within the complex which lead to the quiet roadway. The beach is a short 200 - 300m stroll away. Two outdoor showers (1 with hot water) are located outside the house for guests to use after a visit to the beach. My Manager will meet you to hand over keys on arrival and receive them again on departure. He is available to answer any questions you may have. Please ensure that your arrival and departure times fall within normal working hours. Palm Beach is a lush and tranquil coastal suburb, appealing to nature lovers and those who enjoy a relaxed and peaceful holiday "away from it all". The local community are environmentally aware and friendly. The local beach offers long unspoiled walks, and is particularly enjoyable in the early morning and late afternoons. In the heat of the day, swimmers regularly take to the waves and kiddies paddle along the flat shoreline. As part of the Mpenjati Marine Reserve, it is not a commercial beach and therefore does not offer the protection of shark-nets or lifesavers ... but Trafalgar and Marina Beaches (to name but 2) are a mere 5 - 10 minute drive away if and when you prefer the safer bathing options. You can even walk there if you fancy the exercise ! Between the months of June to November, breaching whales are easily spotted from the deck and for the lucky few, the sardine run may also be a highlight during June/ July. If you have a telescope or binoculars, bring them along ! Palm Beach is situated on the South Coast of Kwazulu Natal. Guests will need to provide their own transport as public transport is not readily available. Car hire is readily available at both King Shaka International Airport (outside Durban) and at Margate Airport. Distance from King Shaka Intnl. Airport = approx. 180km (2 hours' drive) Distance from Durban = approx. 150km (90 mins drive) Distance from Margate Airport = approx 25km (20 - 30 mins drive) All accommodation over Dec & Jan is for a minimum period of 10 nights provided that it is for EITHER Xmas or New year. If you want to book for BOTH Xmas and new Year the minimum stay is 14 nights. Guests are requested to supply their own beach towels please. From time to time, guests may experience the inconvenience of having water and/or electricity supplies cut. This is South Africa and beyond our immediate control. To assist, there is a 2.2KL water tank connected to supply the house. Also, emergency water is supplied in 2 large jerry cans. There are rechargeable fluorescent lamps, candles and a gas braai/oven.
